Just picked up a Gen 2 995. It's a beater w/ no mag so not sure how/ if it shoots. Looks to be all there and in good order though. Nice bore.

When in doubt you can ship it back to HiPoint for a free refurbishment under their lifetime warranty.

At the very least call HP and get a free spring set and firing pin.
Ask for the sear spring to be included.
There are people out there that have installed aftermarket weaker springs and there’s no telling what you’ve got from looking at the spring.

This 995 has the std smooth black stock. Clip rear retainer. 1 firing pin spring w/ support tube.
The striker release seems very strong. I assume that is considered the sear? It's all clean though and the trigger/ sear operation is smooth. Then again, I don't know how strong a new spring is to compare.
Not that you implied, but it's probably best for all to know that I'm 58 and have been tinkering and smithing on various weapons for the last 30 yrs so this ain't my first boom stick.
I've just been hankering for a 9mm carbine as of late and had a case of sticker shock for the weapons of higher esteem. I'm not a gun snob though and have seem many good reviews on these. Having gotten into this for less than $250.00 I figured it to be a fun tinkering toy. I've owned a Uzi Mod A, AR 9mm, TEC-9 and a Spectre.
I've always walked by the old Hi Points just due to the looks, but have seen pics of modified and new models that show promise.
Anyway, should be fun!!

I am reducing my lawn ornament inventory. Keeping the '72 Duster, and the '93 Dodge D350 with the Cummins. My parts inventory is going to shrink. I am keeping the slant 6 in the Duster. I have A, C, B, and E body parts. Even have an 8 3/4 truck rear.

Old Mopar parts--- a sound investment!
I feel 1974 was about the height of Dodge truck technology, before it went down hill w/ electronics, smog control junk and vacuum assist.
I prefer all HD manual stuff like a divorced gear drive transfer case w/ lock outs, manual tranny. I would like to even convert all I have to non power steering as the PS just adds a belt, 2 hoses and fluid that could go wrong.

Vintage car/parts market is in the toilet.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I haven't been in the truck buying mode for about 7 yrs now. Would like to eventually find a early 70's W200 crewcab when I get other stuff sold off. I've never had the $$ to by a vintage Cuda, Challenger, Charger, RR, etc.

Got my lightly used factory mag in today.
Loaded up 2- FMJ, 3- HP then 2- FMJ and test fired.
Second rnd FTFeed w/a nose up.
Pulled mag, put rnd back in. Mag re-inserted and held up on bottom of mag. All 6 fired fine.
1/16" of play seems to matter. Not only does mag go up, but also slightly forward when pushed tight.
