PSA is trying to buy Remington Ammo for $65 million! Lots of other neat stuff in this edition of TGC News.

I am amazed at the aggressive moves PSA has been taking, from manufacturing a diverse range of AR and AK platforms to their one Gen 3 Glock knock-off. When I first started dealing with them, they were just a place to order some ammo at decent prices and other firearms and accessories.

I used to live a matter of blocks from one of their brick-and-mortar stores in Columbia, and when I was in there one day, a customer was asking for a traditional bolt-action hunting rifle, to which the counter guy responded that they were moving into the tactical rifle-only model. They were making big changes a while back.

There was a stretch where they were getting really sloppy with their order fulfillment, and that most likely had to do with growing pains associated with their expansion, but they've really put some work into professionalizing their operation.

I hope this works out for them and that they aren't getting to far out over their skis. They've been bringing a lot to the gun community, and I'd like to keep them in that game.

Wall Street Journal announced 9/9/2020 the $65 Million sale agreed to, subject to higher offers while in Bankruptcy Court. JJE Capitol Holdings would also assume ALL DEBT.
Gonna have to see what the Judge thinks before this is over.

Only a leftist anti-2A, anti-capitalism judge would turn that down.

Sadly, there are a LOT of those.
Everyone that is owed money should be lining their lawyers up to attack if they lose out on someone willing to assume the debt.

I bought a couple of TSLA calls when Battery Day failed, causing a precipitous drop in TSLA's price. Because their stock goes nuts based on news events, but reverses shortly thereafter, I figured it would run back up. $1300 overnight on that trade. The last time that I made money on TSLA was when the nut job said he had funding to go private at $420 a share, which was BS, but it caused the price to spike like crazy. I bought a put, and sure enough, the price tanked. Options on volatile, newsworthy stocks are a great way to grab some extra cash. You might look into it.

A year or two back PSA had 40% of the domestic AR market. I think it is cool they have started building the AK47 copies. If their production ramps up high enough they will dominate that market.

S&W, I would love to get a stainless 10 shot revolver. They are charging too much for an item that is a crap shoot on the quality.

Just saw this:

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/r...mington-ammo-franklin-armory-gets-bushmaster/

Important stuff from link:

• Vista Outdoor, Inc. as the Successful Bidder pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit A with respect to the Lonoke Ammunitions Business and certain IP assets; and SIG Sauer, Inc. as the Backup Bidder thereto pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit B with respect to the Lonoke Ammunitions Business;

• Roundhill Group, LLC as the Successful Bidder pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit C with respect to the non-Marlin Firearms Business; and Huntsman Holdings, LLC and Century Arms, Inc. as the Backup Bidders thereto pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit D with respect to certain Firearms Business IP assets and Exhibit E with respect to certain non-Marlin Firearms Business inventory, respectively;

• Sierra Bullets, L.L.C. as the Successful Bidder pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit F with respect to the Barnes Ammunitions Business; and Barnes Acquisition LLC as the Backup Bidder thereto pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit G with respect to the Barnes Ammunitions Business;

• Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. as the Successful Bidder pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit H with respect to the Marlin Firearms Business; and Long Range Acquisition LLC as the Backup Bidder thereto pursuant to the terms of the Asset Purchase Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit I with respect to the Marlin Firearms Business;

• JJE Capital Holdings, LLC as the Successful Bidder with respect to the DPMS, H&R, Stormlake, AAC, and Parker brands;

• Franklin Armory Holdings, Inc., or its designated assignee, as the Successful Bidder with respect to the Bushmaster brand and certain related assets; and

• Sportsman's Warehouse, Inc. as the Successful Bidder with respect to the Tapco brand.

Things that intrigue me:

Ruger getting Marlin
Franklin getting Bushmaster
Sportsman's Warehouse getting Tapco.
JJE (PSA) getting DPMS, H&R, AAC

That's a good thing if they are looking to ramp up production to appease the masses.

What I REALLY want to see is how Ruger screws up the Model 60 and 336. Will they push it down market with crappier parts so it won’t compete with the 10/22? Will they use MicroGroove rifling in the 10/22?

Interesting regardless.

So there are 4 primer manufacturers in the US... Winchester, Remington, CCI and Federal.

After this buy, Vista will own 3 of them.

Federal/ CCI are now selling ammo directly from their website. CCI's Blazer (though currently out of stock) was listed at $19.99 a box for 115 gr/ 50 rnds.

My take from this all is look for higher prices to continue well past this current situation. Why ship everything to distribution when you can make more profit selling directly.

In a press release on September 30th Ruger president and CEO Chris Killoy said in regards to the acquisition of Marlin: "The brand aligns perfectly with ours and the Marlin product portfolio will help us widen our already diverse product offerings." The deal with Ruger is exclusively for the Marlin Firearms assets and not any of the buildings or real estate that Remington owns.

Wouldn't it be cool if Ruger revived the NEF series of single shot rifles and shotguns?
