Hello all, I am looking for a little information.
Yesterday I purchased a Romanian model 1969, 22cal, training rifle. It is however stamped, on the barrel, with the date of 1982.
My question is, was this rifle produced or imported in 1982? Some have said imported, some have said produced. Anyone know the truth about this little 5 shot boltaction?

Thanks in advance, JB.

The Romanian M69 .22 Trainer was first produced in 1969 and like most military rifles, especially European, the model of the gun refers to first year of production. Your rifle was manufactured in 1982, there are no importers adding the year of import to the gun. Europeans tend to stamp barrels with year of manufacture and serial numbers whereas US gunmakers lean more towards stamping the receiver itself. These are still in production at the Cugir Arsenal in Romania.

Thanks for the info Kripp.
It looks like a sturdy little 22, and a hole lot newer than I thought[ha ha ha ] .
Now I just need to file down some scope rings, to fit the undersized receiver grove , and get a scope on it.
