Wife got me one like this years back. I liked it really well until my eyes got old. Still use it on my .177 "Chipmunk" medicine.Looking for a couple of scopes. Want a 3/4" tube with claw bases for a grooved .22 receiver. I do not want the
el-cheap-o Walmart Special scope, but something reasonable. Any thoughts?
You are going to get the Walmart types, like that Barska above, or you will spend $200+ on some vintage Redfield or Weaver B model.Looking for a couple of scopes. Want a 3/4" tube with claw bases for a grooved .22 receiver. I do not want the

Your comment about the Nylon 66 just got me thinking about the 2 rifles I have from my dad’s collection. A GR8 and a Nylon 66 Mohawk. I think a 1 inch tube would be out of place on those rifles. You are going to get the Walmart types, like that Barska above, or you will spend $200+ on some vintage Redfield or Weaver B model.
Why 3/4 inch? There are decent 1” tubes with 32 mm bells that aren’t too much for the gun. Leupold makes a $300 28 mm bell scope, 1” tube.
Those claw mounts are called “tip-off” rings, or 3/8 inch dovetail rings. Some people just say “dovetail” which just confuses everyone.
My last two scopes were Simmons Pro Target Rimfires, 2-7x32 for $26. Far better scope than the $20 20mm scopes. But they are target reticles, not the fine crosshairs type.

Looked at these. They have a fixed 4x version. I might just get one for the GR8.Wife got me one like this years back. I liked it really well until my eyes got old. Still use it on my .177 "Chipmunk" medicine.
As I got older it got harder to see through the small tube. Could be my astigmatism, but a scope that was once clear as a bell to me became cloudy, though my daughter and nephew could see through it quite well. I replaced it with a cheap 4X 1" tube that works fine. This little scope MIGHT work fine for you. Mine even has a range adjustment knob on top - from 25 to 175, and it works well with the right ammo.Looked at these. They have a fixed 4x version. I might just get one for the GR8.
You mentioned that you liked it until your eyes got old. Explain please. I am wanting to scope my rifles precisely because my eyes have gotten old!
Yep. And like I said, you’re going to get WalMart crap, or expensive vintage units that may or may not be cloudy..Your comment about the Nylon 66 just got me thinking about the 2 rifles I have from my dad’s collection. I had a Marlin model 60 with a 2x7 "TV" view with a duplex reticle. I can not remember who manufactured it, just that it was marketed with "TV". I would like to find a couple of those.
That’s the one I ordered for the GR8, the Nylon 66 is getting a vintage Weaver off of e-bayAmazon showed a BARSKA 4X20 3/4" scope in matte black. Dunno if it's any good though.
No Permission to view....This is a closely Indexed question to the above, but I need a long eye relief dovetail scope for the mighty DEAGLE
I don't even know range, I'm guessing not much over 100m but I'm not sure...
Other than that, it's an old Mk. 7 with the dovetail mount atop the barrel. 3/4" tube sounds right for the size, but I think I have seen scout scopes on these as well.
I want the community's input on this, before I hit the googiots and the modern latest goo-gaws from crapazon

You’re mixing too much crap together.
3/4“ is a tube size. Scout scope is simply a long eye relief fire scope, pistol scopes are often used as scout scopes. They can be 3/4” but that would be a bad thing....it would limit the field of view and light gathering.
You simply need a “long eye relief scope”. 2.5 or 4x, 1” or 30 mm tube probably 32 mm bells. BSA, Leupold, and others.

ELOs, I agree. Now they have to pay someone to do what Rach did for free, and much faster to boot.Looks like a 3/8 inch dovetail. That’s not a great thing. There’s very little mechanical or structural strength in that, it’s mostly just pressure and friction that holds the rings in place. It does look clean though; nice and unobtrusive.
Even my S&W .22’s have actual weaver rails to keep the scope locked in.
I’ve also had issues with the system. Sometimes there’s no option to insert images or links, they’re all just grayed out. Other times, an image from the web will show up as the text version of the address, rather than the image. I had one yesterday that showed one image from my online album, but refused to show the other except as text.
Not at all impressed with the evil overlords.
That was what I got at wally's world, Tasco rimfire with the TV stuffYour comment about the Nylon 66 just got me thinking about the 2 rifles I have from my dad’s collection. A GR8 and a Nylon 66 Mohawk. I think a 1 inch tube would be out of place on those rifles.
