AFAIK, the 380 and 9mm mags were interchangeable. But, when I perused the Hi-Point website today I spotted this 3895 magazine that won't work in the 995. It's even stamped 380 carbine!
When did this happen?

Most strange indeed. Maybe a different magazine tube, or feed lip geometry. 🤷‍♂️

It's that it sticks out of the grip of the pistol, and if you smack it in too hard you'll jam it past the mag catch & bend the feed lips. Same statement on the RedBalls & the 995 mag. The 995 mag fits the Yeet Cannon just fine. When HiPoint originally designed their magazine system the floorplate was the overtravel stop.

If you're tactically operating your HiPoint, remember slow is smooth & smooth is fast when your carbine goes down & you switch to the Yeet Cannon.

After reading posts here I decided to add the .380 carbine to my collection. As I looked over the paperwork for it I read the part about magazine compatibility for the rifles. As I read it I got out all my High Point mags and looked them over carefully. When I get time I will post pictures if...

According to the date of ^this post^ (2017) the 380 carbine mag has been around for a while.

It is very difficult to tell the .380 carbine mag from the 9mm carbine mag. There is a very very small difference but you need to look close to see it.

The OP said he'd post pictures if anyone was interested but never did.

I'd take that bet but it wouldn't be an honest bet since I just took delivery of three of the .380 carbine mags.
To be fair, you're partially correct, the feed lips are indeed different. But Hi-Point used pistol mag bases instead of the familiar 995 mag bases, and the mags have an extra lip at the front of the mag. And while I can load 9mm rounds into the 380 carbine mag, the 9mm rounds won't strip out without considerable effort.
