.40 S&W 135 gr.: Making the switch!

  1. I'm thinking of switching to Federal Hydra-Shok 135 gr. low recoil ammo for use in my G27. While I don't like the ballistics as much as HST, there's this to consider: a .22 to the head beats a .45 to the arm. That being said, I can get much better shot placements with 135 out of a sub-compact when doing rapid fire. That, and I already have a box of it lying around.

I am not a big fan of Hydra-Shok, I am in the process of taking my 9mm training and carry ammo to 147gr. For carry I will more then likely be using the Blackhills with the speer gold dots in them. I CCW a full size XD9 a bunch . 147gr is a joy to shoot out of it.

That is one of the reasons I do not like 40 it has too sharp of a jump. It takes a ton of practice to get your shooting with a 40 to where it is 2nd nature where you do not have to think about shot placement.

  3. Hmm... I'm going to branch this into a new thread for a related issue.
