First, removing the front sight is not a problem but that rail is another issue. Yes, i can disassemble almost the entire rifle and remove it but I am looking for a method to avoid doing that.

Any suggestions, please.

Thanks,

Remove a few screws from the front section of the stock and spread the halves apart. The rail will damn near fall out.

There are only two screws on the side of the stock which I removed completely but was unable to separate. I pried as hard as I could without damaging the stock and it would not budge.

You need to spend two minutes removing the stock first.

Disassemble it until you're holding just the stock and remove/loosen as many screws as it takes to separate the front section of the stock. Sorry I didn't spell it out for you. Think you got it or should I start working on some drawings.

You lost me...please be more specific. First, you said to "remove a few screws" and I found only 2 which I removed completely but did not allow me to separate the stock or remove that rail.

Thanks

Joe P
You have to remove the barrelled action from the stock, first, is what cicpup is saying. You have to punch out those pins on the side and flip that lever at the end of the top rail, allowing you to remove the top cover. After removing that, try splitting the stock at the front where you've removed the screws.

If that still doesn't work, you'll need to tap the piece of sheet metal forward that is located just forward of the trigger guard. That will let you actually take the barreled action out of the stock.

cicup & Think1st,

You are both correct. I called Tech Support this morning and was informed that removal requires a partial disassembly as you both described.

Time to watch some videos!!

I'll let you know how I fared.

Thanks,

@JoeP try Longshot Mfg. He's a member here and was a forum sponsor and registered vendor here for years. He can be a little pricey, but he makes quality stuff. There used to be a discount for registered members of HPFF, not sure if he still uses it though...

Much to my surprise I was able to perform that partial disassembly and removed the rail!!
Well look at that. It was even easier than I remember.

Thanks everyone for your assistance and information.

I thoght it may be a good idea to post a picture of that rail in the event that someone stumbles upon this thread. As we know that the rail cannot simply slide out or fall out because of the deep notch in the end. So, the partial disassembly is required.

Well if you didn't stumble on to one of the other dozen plus threads about it...😆

Most folks just post without looking...

Hey Think1st. Doesn't that kinda make you feel used and useless.

What would they do without your help? Now that you have a picture to remember it by, throw that POS in the trash where it belongs.

What are those barrel shrouds for? Is there some improvement to harmonics or heat dissipation with them?
Similar to the effect of the comps. They have a useful function on other firearms but in a Hi-Point they're more window dressing because the effect is negligible.

The original clamp-on comps even have a 3/8" dovetail that HP used to say you could use to clamp a laser or flashlight to it.

Even they knew there wasn't much function.
