There are only two screws on the side of the stock which I removed completely but was unable to separate. I pried as hard as I could without damaging the stock and it would not budge.Remove a few screws from the front section of the stock and spread the halves apart. The rail will damn near fall out.
You lost me...please be more specific. First, you said to "remove a few screws" and I found only 2 which I removed completely but did not allow me to separate the stock or remove that rail. You need to spend two minutes removing the stock first.
You have to remove the barrelled action from the stock, first, is what cicpup is saying. You have to punch out those pins on the side and flip that lever at the end of the top rail, allowing you to remove the top cover. After removing that, try splitting the stock at the front where you've removed the screws. You lost me...please be more specific. Well look at that. It was even easier than I remember.Much to my surprise I was able to perform that partial disassembly and removed the rail!!![]()
Well if you didn't stumble on to one of the other dozen plus threads about it...😆Thanks everyone for your assistance and information.
I thoght it may be a good idea to post a picture of that rail in the event that someone stumbles upon this thread. As we know that the rail cannot simply slide out or fall out because of the deep notch in the end. So, the partial disassembly is required.

Hey Think1st. Doesn't that kinda make you feel used and useless.cicup & Think1st,
You are both correct. I called Tech Support this morning
What would they do without your help? Now that you have a picture to remember it by, throw that POS in the trash where it belongs. Thanks everyone for your assistance and information.

Well, sometimes the truth is hard to swallow. Everyone thinks there's a shortcut and has to hear from the factory that there isn't one.Hey Think1st. Doesn't that kinda make you feel used and useless.
I decided on Down Range Products Hi Point Vented Barrel Shroud long 1095 TS 4095 TS 4595 TS no front sight .665 ID #4237 – Down Range Products Company@JoeP try Longshot Mfg. He's a member here and was a forum sponsor and registered vendor here for years. He can be a little pricey, but he makes quality stuff. There used to be a discount for registered members of HPFF, not sure if he still uses it though...
What are those barrel shrouds for? Is there some improvement to harmonics or heat dissipation with them?I decided on Down Range Products Hi Point Vented Barrel Shroud long 1095 TS 4095 TS 4595 TS no front sight .665 ID #4237 – Down Range Products Company

My understanding is that heat dissipation is its primary function. Additionally, for me, it was the elimination of the lower rail and front sight. What are those barrel shrouds for? Is there some improvement to harmonics or heat dissipation with them?
Similar to the effect of the comps. They have a useful function on other firearms but in a Hi-Point they're more window dressing because the effect is negligible. What are those barrel shrouds for? Is there some improvement to harmonics or heat dissipation with them?
