You could get a barrel in Tok custom made . This would allow you a 1911 conversion , provided you found the right mag . I've heard the 22 TCM from Rock Island makes a perfect fit.

7.62x25mm is a bit long for the 1911 magwell, requiring the rounds to be loaded at a relatively steep angle, reducing magazine capacity significantly, IIRC.

I've talked to a couple of guys playing w/ the TCM.

OALs from Wikipedia:

.45 ACP - 1.275 in (32.4 mm)
.22 TCM - 1.265 in (32.1 mm)
7.62x25mm - 35.20 mm (1.386 in)

I think that 3rd millimeter is gonna do you in, unless you come up w/ a 1911 mag that you've cut the front & back out of. IIRC, the folks trying 7.62 in 1911s staggered the rounds steeply w/ a non-leveling follower, but could only fit about 5 in the mag. Given you've got perfectly serviceable Romanians and Yugos coming in, why bother?

If you really wanted to w/o modding the mags, you could do like the .22 TCM 9R, and use a short bullet in the 7.62 to meet 1911 .38 Super mag dimensions.

I saw a thread where somebody who did a 38 super conversion described how a flat follower mag allowed 7 + 1 rds in the mag. This would make a swap worthwhile. .Even new Zastavas lack great triggers. A good 1911 has a far better pull .A 22 tcm 9r conversion would be great , if feasible. The smith at J&G sales was highly recommended here.

9r is right out of this dicussion, it's shorter than standard .22 TCM to fit in 9x19mm pistols such as Glock 19s. I bought a Romanian Tok just to have the magwell & stock Yugo mags.

Why bother with 95 grains at 1300 fps, or 85 at 1600 fps, when I can go 125 grains at 1350, or 100 grains at 1600?
In a gun that holds 12-14 rounds.
