I see that unique and blue dot are some members powders of choice for the 995. I can understand a slower burning powder for a carbine in a pistol cal. but has anyone tried any other slower powders? blue dot is a few numbers down from 296 / 110 , in the burn rate charts, and 4198 is a few numbers up from them.
Just curious, Ive been rolling my own for a few decades, some of the most accurate 243 ammo I have loaded came from a load not listed in any manual, I got it from a Hogdon tech.

Pet loads are exactly what they are, Pet Loads. If a Hogdon tech gave you that load, be VERY JEALOUS of that data, it's probably proven to put rounds on target. As far as 995 loads, I am personally still in the process of working up a specific load for my 995, but have only gotten to the proving grounds once so far. Once I get a load worked up, I'll be more than happy to share it, I just haven't gotten that far yet.

i talked to an alliant tech some time ago about 9mm carbine powder data and he said they are working on it, but it isnt ready for publication yet. many of the powder mfgs are realizing that pistol caliber carbines are going to be a part of the shooting lexicon for some time to come and they better get with the program or get left behind when it comes to powder data.

I like Winchester 231 powder myself . The load weight ,velosity and presure are a mirror image of HP-38 .. I used this powder to replace my Blue Dot due to a cleaner burn and less powder required . I alos use the same powder for my .38sp and .357 loads so for me it's an all around good due to the burn rate and lower pressure ..

Just a reminder that Winchester 231 is also packaged by Hodgdon as their HP-38 brand. So any load data you find for one can be safely used with the other.....not my thoughts, I got it straight from the Hodgdon rep I e-mailed a while ago.
