HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED THAT THE RECIEVER COVER ON THE 995TS DOESN'T SIT FLUSH WITH THE TOP-REAR OF THE FOREGRIP LIKE IT DID ON THE PROTOTYPE IN THE STICKY AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE? I KNOW IT WAS JUST A PROTOTYPE, BUT I WONDER IF THIS WAS DONE SO THAT THE 4095 CARBINE WITH ITS LONGER RECIEVER COVER WOULD FIT THE SAME STOCK. I KNOW ITS KIND OF PETTY BUT THE GAP WAS THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME FROM BUYING A 995TS. OH YEAH, THAT AND THE WIFE. :brow:

The shroud cover was designed for the 4095 , that is what the prototype was. Decided to make the 9mm first then the 40 & 45. The same shroud cover will be used on all. Will be changing the front of the steel receiver shroud eventually on the 9mm to match the 40 shroud.

I have a carbine that I had an ATI stock put on. I had a gunsmith do it since I am not all that good with things like this. I note that he got the part that goes around the operating handle (the roller) installed backwards so the operating handle will not stay in the open position. I am concerned about unscrewing the operating handle out since it is very far forward. I am concerned that the hole for the operating handle will disappear behind the stock. Is this an unfounded fear? Also, I wanted to remove the factory rear sight and install a red dot. I did not realize that the sight has backing plates on the underside of the receiver shroud. I finally got them out by shaking to gun for about 30 minutes. How do I replace the backing plates and the mounting rail for the red dot? Was there another way that I should have approached the idea of a sight change? This is probably elementary to many of you but this is not in my skill set. Thanks :embarrassed2:

the parts for the rail should have been included when you bought the rifle. If not, you can call HP and they will send to you at no charge. it's two pieces that make up the rail.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the rails came with the carbine. I removed the rear sight not realizing that they have backing plates n the underside of the receiver shroud. Do I have to remove the receiver shroud to replace rear sights? That seems strange.

I've never added the rail to mine, irons were too accurate to remove. I suppose if the plates came loose, then yeah you would have to remove the cover. I've only had the cover off twice and never even looked at the underside. Sorry I can't be of more help.

If the plates are there, just put the screws back in to hold them in place...my holo sight fits right between the holes for the iron sights, but covers the adjusting screw hole...
I didn't notice if the plates were there, I shook the gun to see if they were, and either they aren't, or they are fastened/stuck so that they didn't rattle. I just put the screws back in so I wouldn't lose them...

BTW, is there really going to be a difference between the 4095 and the 4595 other than internal stuff? As the frames are essentially identical for the JHP and JCP, I would think the carbines would be pretty similar.

I have the rails. What I did not realize is that the receiver shroud is not tapped for screws. There are backing plates for the screws on the inside of the gun under the receiver shroud. When you remove the rear sight the backing plates drop into the gun. What is the process for removing the rear sight and replacing it with the factory supplied rails?

the cover is pretty thin, and likely the reason it isn't threaded.

Again, i've never removed my sights, but I would say take off the receiver cover, remove screws for sights, then mount rail on cover using the plates. make sure you align the slots with the two pieces for the rail.
