Alec Baldwin failed a basic gun handling rule. He did not check and see if a firearm was cleared. I don’t care who was supposed to do it, the bottom line is that he did not do it. His negligence is directly responsible for the death. Plus what ever happened to don’t point a firearm at something you do not want to destroy?

below is an excerpt from the article:

"Alec Baldwin is taking legal action for the first time in last year's fatal Ruston-set shooting incident that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

In court docs obtained by PEOPLE, the Academy Award nominee, 64, "seeks to clear his name" after he was rehearsing with the prop gun as it misfired, killing Hutchins and wounding writer-director Joel Souza on Oct. 21, 2021 in Santa Fe, N.M.

"More than anyone else on that set, Baldwin has been wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy," the lawsuit reads."

No gun talk in the lounge, Greg...
I don’t disagree, but where does it go? The premise is on the event itself, not the firearm, therefore it doesn't belong in general firearms discussion. It’s not 2A. I thought Training, look at my opening statement, but I don’t think so. It just dosent follow the theme of threads already there. It would definitely fit in premium member lounge, but thought the discussion did not need to be behind a pay wall.

So I chose Lounge. Believe me, I thought hard. Don’t want to be accused of treating myself with privileges I might chastise others for. I think there should be a "In The News" category under Off Topic, but that would come with its own set of problems.

Maybe I should just delete this thread?

He will never clear his name. He will always be a jerk and a loser and everyone knows it.
Pretty sure his income is higher than anyone on this sight. He is a schmuck. Guilty of manslaughter. Has enogh money to stay out of prison.

"Misfired"

I moved it to general firearms anyway. It's either that or dark rooms.

Thanks. Didn’t know what to do with it. I figured it was going to the dark rooms.

He can pay as much as he wants….his name will NEVER be cleared in the minds of real people.
He’s a spoiled brat who screwed the pooch, and wants to blame others. Screw him, and the horse he rode in on. Unless he takes responsibility, he’s just another rich POS with dubious political leanings and zero ethics.

What probably happened is Baldwin had already depressed the trigger before he drew the SAA revolver from the shoulder holster and pointed the revolver at the director of photography, cocked the hammer then released it allowing it to fall and fire the weapon.

The accomplice is the person who loaded the live round in the revolver.

The weapon was out of control of the firearm expert for about 14 minutes. She wasn't allowed in the building.

It's gun talk so it should have gone in GFD. It's a hot button topic so it will likely end up in the DR.

He belongs in jail, I don't understand how her husband signed off on the lawsuit in exchange for a piece of the crap movie. The irony of an ignorant anti gun jerk fatally killing someone and walking is a sign of what's wrong with our country right now. I hoped things would change during midterms but that ship sailed!

The gun did not misfire. It the operated exactly as is was designed to do when he aimed it (inadvertently or not) and pulled the trigger firing a live round.

The FBI report said there was nothing mechanically wrong with the weapon.

“Do you feel guilt?” ABC News host George Stephanopoulos asked Baldwin during an exclusive interview.

“No. No,” Baldwin said. “I feel that there is, I feel that someone is responsible for what happened and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me. I might have killed myself if I thought I was responsible, and I don’t say that lightly . . .”
-------------------------------------

His response says it all. He is a jackhole idiot that is irresponsible and I hope he gets the devil sued out of him.

He's not a responsible gun owner. Stop thinking he should behave as one. He's an actor who does as he's told. Nothing more. To him a gun is just a prop supplied by the prop department. The responsible party is the person who loaded the gun and the handed it to a trained monkey.

In part.

The trained monkey is responsible for delivery of the projectile.

While I mostly agree with you. A trained monkey can not be held responsible for his actions. This DS can be.
