I got screwed again by a woman from AT&T.she sold me a modem/router for $100 and said it was wireless and i would'nt have to run
a 40 ft cord, which makes no since anyway because even if your net runs using that much cord it would be slow.well i get the modem/router
and to no suprise found out that it didn't come with an adapter for the second computer, nor did she even mention anything about it including that it's $50+,have the price of the freakin router.i talked to a guy last night who gave me some numbers to call and report this woman about this situation.to make this short this very nice instead of waving the fee on the adapter at the cost of $50+ she has gave me the $100 modem/router for free instead to make it an even better relief for me.3out of 5 years with these have put me on at the point of going back to cox which i miss alot.they have twice the speed of my dsl extreme for less than what im paying now.anyway though i would post this and see if anyone here has trouble with their isp and even how to deal with them.

Nope, never a single one. They even replace our routers for free when they mess up.

Because i have the phone with them as well and they would more than
happy to jack of my phone bills every month and get away with it.
I'm sure that would be against the law, you've got a set agreed upon rate, I doubt they could just up it for no reason. Definately not because you cancelled your internet service with them.

Well they have being screwing my "set rate" for longer than i can remember.im
just a slave to them now.
I'm sure you don't have a contract and can cancel at any time you'd like. If you aren't happy with the quality of service you are receiving than you need to do something about it. Not just let them take advantage of your hard earned wages.

Sean, if you do go back to Cox Cable, you can use that and get Vonage for a home phone, AND you get to keep your same number. Hell, that alone would be worth it just to be able to tell AT&T to eat it.

I'm with ATT, what router did they give you? I had a Westell but it started acting up... so they gave me their 100$ wireless router/modem combo, and I've been happy since.

If you please advise what brand and model number modem you have, or even a pic, I would be happy to help you further.

This is mine now:

um... this adapter your buying... it's a USB WiFi "card" for your desktop, right?
Because there's 4 ports on the back of the router for wired connections (for desktops)
If you're only using a laptop - that was purchased in the last 5 years, it should be WiFi enabled. All you need to do is get the WEP code off of the bottom of the router, enter it in the proper place in the network connections, and you're up and running.
