I have an hp4095 carbine, that I recently bought. I was trying to find some extra mags for it, and I found a .45 mag at a good buy in a pawn shop. I have heard the two are interchangeable, so I asked the clerk if I could try it in an hp .40. He did , and it fit, then I tried .40 ammo in it, and it seems OK. I haven't been able to go to the range yet to try it , but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with switching these two?

From what I can tell they are the same mag body but the .40 has a little orange plastic spacer in front of the inside to take up the difference in cartridge length.

Looks like the nose of the .40 bullet rides in a little trough. The follower is also different I think.

I would not be surprised to find out that .40 S&W function in a .45 mag but not the other way around.
