These metal striker-fired pistols just might be becoming an increasingly substantial part of the market, given that Walther and S&W are making metal versions of their striker pistols, and aftermarket manufacturers are selling metal grip modules for Sig P320 and P365 models. Well, Armscor is getting into the game with their STK100.

This looks like it might be worth getting as more information comes out about holster compatibility and availability of rear night sights. The optic cut is a nice feature, but I'm still a bit of a Luddite, so it'll probably be another 10 years or so before I get on board the bandwagon for that fad. The optic cut isn't a detraction to me--it's just superfluous like a new Government Motors car with OnStar you have available but to which you never subscribe or use.

Now, there is one really cool feature on this pistol I know @moona11 will like and which will probably make him choose this one over the S&W 2.0 Metal:

Yes, it takes Glock 17 magazines! In general appearance, it looks like Armscor loosely based the design on the Glock but fixed the various aesthetic and ergonomic characteristics of which people complain.

The site shows an MSRP of $499, so it looks really tempting.

Yeah, the aluminum frame semi-auto has been coming for a while. I thought that the R51 had it, but the idiots running Remington managed to screw that up. Don't forget the CSX.

There have been several foreshadowing entrants but the one I remember is the PA-63.

I'm not sure how much the Glock mags thing is going to matter. I know that "it should take Glock mags" is the common refrain but it didn't seem to help the Mossberg MC1sc that much. I'd hazard that the real benefit is that the manufacturer doesn't have to design and source their own mags.

What I find most interesting about this gun is the clamshell design. It may be worth buying one just for the uniqueness of the design.

Armscor is stepping up their game. Seems nice - we shall see if I like the feel when a place around me gets one in to check out. I know I have been looking at their 22TCM Glock conversion complete slides. Still on the fence but have been looking at it lol.

Yeah I think Sig really hit a gold mine with their grip modules. I know it is an older idea but Sig perfected it. You can have one FCG and have 4 different pistols built off of that. SC, C, FS etc... it is pretty amazing. Some of their metal offerings are really freaking nice too. P226 ish on a 320.

Would I? Probably not. Free maybe. Didn't really like that gun before.

I found that clamshell design to have been interesting, too. It's probably why it isn't pricier than polymer guns. I like that setup, also, because it might lend itself to easier work on the internals when you can just split the frame in half.

The expiration of Glock's Gen 3 patent really opened up the field for other manufacturers to improve upon the design. This one from Armscor is the most exciting of all of those innovations.

that they are. Many of you know that I lamented the fact that I traded all my Armscor handguns to fund a Ruger SR1911 and a couple of SP101’s. Yes, I like the Ruger’s better, but I missed my Armscor . I have luckily been able to replace my beloved Armscor M200, M206, GI1911FS, and added a 1911 ROCK. The fit and finish of the new ones are head and shoulders above that of the old ones.

When I was looking for a Duty size 9mm, the STK100 was high on my list. That it took GLOCK mags was actually kind of a plus. Although I groused about it, my Ruger PC9 did come from the factory with a GLOCK magazine insert.

I have a rule that the cost of a firearm out the door should never be more than the MSRP of the firearm and preferably less. In the case of the STK100 that is $499.00. I was quoted prices of around $550 OTD for the pistol.

In comparison, the Ruger American Competition has a MSRP of $669. I was finding prices in the $525 OTD range. I actually lucked out and found it on sale for even less.

Don’t know how long the STK100 has been on the market, but pretty sure it is fairly new. Maybe prices will settle down. But the fact that they are commanding the high prices probably attests to the popularity of the pistol.

Truth. Seems like Kel Tec pioneered a lot of these ideas and then left them to molder. KT pioneered the idea that the "frame" was an insert in the "grip" and then did, literally, nothing with it. KT fans used the idea to buy the "ivory" colored grips and then dye them to a preferred color. Or use it as a test bed to do grip mods such as stippling or dremmeling, or sometimes building up with epoxy. Yeah, that was neat but leaves so many options on the table. Sig did the same thing with the P11; took the idea that KT was basically ignoring and made the P365 out of it, doing all the things that KT fans had been desperately wanting, and doing a bang-up job of their updates.

I very seriously considered the 1911 ROCK in either 10mm or .45ACP (because it's rated +P and I could do the spring mod and shoot .450SMC in it). I still kinda want one of each. :)

Sig has one as well….sort of. Tungsten infused polymer, so it’s heavy, but still flexes like poly.

Even better, they make an actual aluminum grip module...

Both of those are expensive... mid $200's. But yeah they are freaking great grips.

I have the Wilson Combat grip modules and just ordered a full size X series last week. The X-series Grip I ordered has the extra weight added to the grip. Curious to see how it feels.

Icarus Precision also makes aluminum P365 grip modules. I really want one of these.

I have also toyed with the idea of getting one of their aluminum P365XL grip modules and combining that with a P365XL barrel and slide assembly. The XL with a 15rnd magazine would be around the size of a G48, so you could get that sub-mid-size configuration the G48 offers but with the metal frame.

The P320 and P365 are becoming the Barbie Dolls of handguns in the way you can so easily dress them up in different configurations that would have previously required entire new gun purchases to effect.

Edit: If only I could get permission to get both one of these grip modules and a Hightower Armory bullpup kit. I would be so dead when those UPS packages showed up, though...

I have the XL it is beautiful I like my SAS too though.

I would love an Icarus grip module too, it's a lot of coin, but they look awesome. They make P320 ones too... $400+ for a full size, the sig one is a bit cheaper lol.

Gonna try this poly one with the weight... it was $80 from Optics Planet on sale.

Hightower Armory Kit is a fun kit, but better getting your carry gun where you want it first in my opinion.

It's a tough call. The grip module is certainly an amazing item, and it's smart to grab them when they're in stock, but the enhancement in capability between what the Hightower kit does for the 4595 vs. what the Icarus module does for the P365 is pretty substantial.

I might get a grip module into the shopping cart to see how it ships. If it goes USPS, I might just go for it because my wife doesn't even check the mail. I could grab it up and have it in the house in a heartbeat without her knowing I ordered it.

Edit: It ships Priority Mail, so I went ahead and placed the order. Those were out of stock for a while, so I had to jump on it while I could.

You got one up on me, I'm jealous but happy for you!!!

I do have a possible surprise tomorrow in "what gun did you buy today" though. Excited, but not definite so not gonna jinx it lol.

Oh, US patriot armory has P320 FCG Frame for $60.00, you would need LPK but could build one slowly yourself, just FYI.

@Think1st Sig just release the Xmacro grip module, of course works with your P365 FCG.

Legos... just legos. I love it!!

Icarus Precision just released a Macro module, too! It's sold out, of course. I'd get a regular XL slide for it since I think comps are pretty stupid for carry guns. 17 rounds in a mid-size, all-metal striker pistol!

I agree, well 99%. I do have a Griffin Armament Micro Carry Comp... I have it on one of my G-43's that has a threaded barrel. It is slightly larger than a thread protector. It does help slightly as shot it with and without.

Still very concealable. It's not a ridiculous sized comp though...

Now you got me thinking though... I have an 365X - So IF I got a threaded barrel I could put a herrington arms comp on there to get er flush to the frame lol.

I did start shopping for a 365xl slide though, figure grip module $80 and complete slide $350 ish that's a xmacro for $430 - can't touch that...
