  2. Yeah, all the services are taking hits. The Air Force got finished with their reductions, though they just instated a new eval system which we're pretty sure is just a more covert force management method since they tightened it up hard.

Well it makes sense to take care of the slackers first.
So it's probably a tactic, yes.

Slackers or those who disagree with Obama?

    Well...there goes the unemployment numbers.:p

But I'm in favor. We've used the heck out of the Reserve and Guard units for a decade now, it's obvious we can mobilize relatively quickly if we need to, and the reality is, our national security is served more than adequately by a smaller force, especially considering the tech and other force multipliers we have in the Navy and Air Force.

If it comes to the point of "needing" more soldiers to actually defend the country, rather than to try to defend principles and allies, I'm sure we can respond well enough, fast enough.

It's the government. They don't always get rid of "slackers", they often get rid of folks that won't play the game the way the gate keepers want to play it, even though they are the best for the job.

And the gate keepers aren't who you think...it's often petty little NCO's with an axe to grind, or junior officers looking to make a name for themselves.

Meanwhile, their buddies get a pass, get multiple attempts to beat the system, get good ratings despite poor performance, or get all the plum jobs and point building opportunities.

So, it's just like the real world, basically.
