Besides the obvious cosmetic differences, are there any other tangible benefits gained from installing an ATI stock?

you can unscrew the butt stock and put a pak of pop tarts in there.

So far that's the best benefit I've seen.

I think I'm probably going to end up buying the ATI, just not for a while, thanks for the input folks. I will keep the factory stock handy though so I can play dress up with my carbine.

Keep us informed I'd like to hear your range range!

Given the amount of funding allocated towards shooting related purchases during the family budget planning meeting last night you may be waiting a while for that range report. I can appeal the budgetary decision with the chair woman, but may end up recording a few shooting expenses as "Ace Hardware" or "529 Contribution". We shall see.

How much do the ATI stocks usually set you back?

Not enough to normally be worried about... but considering the fact that I've purchased 5 rifles since June, accessories, and several thousand rounds of ammo (fired and stockpiled), my wife has become kind of prickly about any new purchases.

A one piece design should be more stable.. I can easily see that benefit.

ATI stock and buttpad on the way, milsurpstuff.com really is the place to shop for these things. I really do hope that it doesn't have the "slappy" feeling the factory stock has.
