OP: I'm having the same debate right now. I have always shot Beretta or Sig pistols, but the Taurus 92 has me intrigued. I went and handled them both side by side, one in one hand other in opposite hand. The only thing I have not done yet is put rounds down the pipes on both guns at the same range trip.
The frame vs slide safety is forcing me to make a decision in the end I guess as it's about the only major discernible difference.
The Taurus is made in a former Beretta plant by the same people who made the original 92 for the Brazilian military.
Though with full disclosure there are times when Beretta factory service is atrocious...but everyone can't be HP
