This is another product of these old money Dems, Rockefeller D-WV drew this piece of fascism up for us. I find it odd people in WV vote for clowns like this but obviously I know little of WV.

Basically it can be invoked at the pleasure of the Pres at any time he wishes. I am beginning to wonder if the 2010 elections will come soon enough.

Where is the outrage from the Left that would surely have exploded had Bush attempted this insanity?
Why are the Blue Dogs not raising hell about this?
Are they really Blue Dogs or is that just for show?

Because they bring home the bacon. Those two senators are freaking cash cows for WV, they've got a Robert Byrd this and a Robert Byrd that...it's sickening.

Similar to the other sponsors Senators, Bayh, Nelson, Snowe and Wreckafellow
Oh please Obama, protect me from cyber attacks in case we are at war! Screw you! I'm a freaking network admin, I can take care of my own security kthxbai. I'm pretty sure though, that if he did clog up the Intertubes enough brixx would be shizzed that the planet would drop out of it's orbit from the additional weight.
You can really think this bill has anything at all to do with protecting you or anyone from attacks.
The aim of this would be to shut down sites like this!
Doesn't china exercise this sort of control over their internet access? "Oh you're nuts Obama isn't a communist." uh huh. sure.
I don't think Al Gore would be very pleased if Obama shut off his invention... :brow:

Oh I know that it doesn't have anything to do with protecting people, but that's the excuse that he's using. He'd just deny that he's doing it because he's a freaking tyrant, so I make a argument against his argument :p
maybe they just got done watching Die Hard 4 and realized that movies make for great inspiration for writing legislation
AHA thats the key! He thinks hes in a movie and is in good with the script writer.

All joking aside he at the very least has no respect for a very large portion of Americans and that is troubling, its like he knows something we don't. Perhaps its just the old story of pride and arrogance leading to mistakes, god I hope that's it.
i'm not defending the bill here, i know its really really bad. but i think at least part of the inspiration for it had to have come from the recent revelation that our infrastructure is both heavily reliant on networks and that those networks are easily exploited by enterprising hackers. Wasn't there a recent story about an exploitation of our electric grid by some hacker in South Korea? The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Gee this kind of goes back several years ago when we were trying to convince people that connecting certain things to the internet was beyond foolish. Obviously the attempt was unsuccessful since we have no secure network between businesses and government. News flash the internet is full of dangerous people, wow who would have thought...
