They look good, but I imagine that some of the design features you are picking are patened by other gun companies. I am all for a re-design. That would be real cool.

I think I liked the other one better. The CZ/EAA style grip is nice, but I don't think it fits quite right on an HP.

I like both of them a lot, but Hi Point probably won't be making any big design changes on their handguns anytime soon. We can all dream though.

My objective is to send our feedback to Hi-point as to what people are looking for should they want to upgrade the design.

I can see by the "new" carbine stock they changed the design to make it more "tactical" looking. M4 comes to mind.

I have a feeling sales will take off because of the new design.

Do you think the number of ATI stock conversions and accessories sold,and shown on this site could have had an effect on the decision to redesign the carbine?

By the way, it looks like a copy of the Beretta CX4 storm, wonder if they got sued for duplicating their good design?


I think the photos posted on this forum show the demand for a better looking weapon. Even folks on this forum call the C-9 ugly.

Just think how much more convincing buying a hi-point would be if you could say it's reliable, inexpensive, great warranty and a damn good looking gun.

I too, see the new stock as a sign they're looking more at design. But I don't expect them to redesign any time soon. First, they're building what they can as fast as they can, and can't keep them in stock.

A new design means shutting down a line for a while, and then ramping back up to iron out the kinks.

Also, there's the cost. HP doesn't really make any weapons themselves. Other plants build the pieces. All of them would have to be retooled. That means higher costs, and then possibly higher prices.

Lastly, they really don't have ANY competition in this space. While there are other cheap guns out there, they don't compare to HPs in reliability or quality. We all call the guns ugly, but we still buy them.

So if you ran a company, that was operating at full capacity and basically still had people waiting to find your guns, would you spend the money to create new tooling and then lose the production time to retool all of your lines and then ramp them up to get the kinks out? Especially since you wouldn't sell any more guns (since you're already selling everything you can make.)

I expect they might look at this if things slow down for them, or they get a new low end competitor.

I agree with Croz. HP is TOO behind on back orders to build any other NEW stuff.
