Brand new, <200 rounds. Slide is smooth as silk with no mag, insert loaded mag and it drags on the top round - to the point that it'll actually make grooves in the brass and transfer some brass to the bottom of the slide. I've tried a few mags and it does it with all of them. Sometimes doesn't go all the way into battery. Seems to cycle fine at the range, but surely this isn't right. For context I also have a JCP, and the action of the slide on it is smooth all the time, mag or not.

Is there something I can polish or adjust, or is this a send-it-back situation? Or just shoot it a few hundred more times and it'll smooth out?

Could be as easy as waiting for the mag springs to break in, as you suggest.

You "COULD" try rolling the mag lips together just a teeny tiny bit, to hold the rounds lower. But that could affect feeding reliability, so go easy on that one.

Sounds like the lips need to get tweaked a bit. It'll eventually wear in but I don't like doing that.
