If I were going to paint mine, I’d use Hammerite paint. Like the look.

No idea what the factory uses.

I’d use Rustoleum in a rattle can.

I have a 995 and a 995TS, both E series made around the time period when they were changing to the TS models. The paint on the zamak portion of both of the receivers and barrels I had would flake off pretty easy and I would find it the moving parts when cleaning. So I decided to remove it all and leave it bare, because it wasn’t going to rust. I just used a gel paint remover that took it off pretty easy. My guess is at that time period, they used just a basic lacquer base paint for the drying speed, nothing special. However on the steel portion of the barrel there was some other kind of base finish, I forget what I thought it was, I think I was leaning towards a light powder coat. Paint remover didn’t remove it and I ended up just bead blasting that off. If I was doing it again I would just leave that finish on the barrel.

You know the shrouds sometimes have a dull/flat finish on them. Never asked why.
