Carbine Magazine Question

I am currently a C9 owner and I have my CCW. I have to tell you my C9 saved my life and the lives of my kids. We were at a park and I went to throw something away there was a 80 pound pit bull that charged us. The C9 with law enforcement ammo did the trick. 1 shot

Anywho I really want to buy a carbine.
Can the C9 10 round mags be used in a 9mm carbine?

Can the .40 SW Pistol 10 round mags be used in the .40 carbine?

I am not opposed to buying the .40 pistol but would like to know.
Thanks

According to the factory, the 995 and C9 mags are NOT interchangeable

The 4095 carbine and JCP40 mags ARE interchangeable.

Sorry to hear about the dog attack.

Is the JCP40 the same as the 40SW-B? The 40SW-B is what is currently on hp website.
Thanks

Paul,
Welcome to the forum!

The 10 round 995 mags are not interchangeable with the 10 round pistol mags due to the little grip extension at the end of the 10 round pistol mags. This keeps the pistol mags from fully seating in the mag well.

The mags for the 4095 are indeed interchangeable as the carbine was built around the 10 round pistol mag. So, if you want to share mags you have to go with the 4095. However, with a C9 and a 995 you can still share ammo.

The JCP40 and the 40SW-B are indeed the same gun.

Personally, I would get the 995 with a couple of extra mags. However, if it is financially possible for ya, a JCP40 and a 4095 carbine combo would be brilliant and you would still have the C9 to teach the wife and kids to shoot!

The .40 S&W gives you more bang for your buck, I just ordered some Wolf .40 S&W at sportsmansguide.com for a little over 11 bucks a box of 50 (actually cheaper for me because I am a club member there)

If you would like the larger caliber, go to the caliber section and I have a post there on how to get the Wolf as cheap as possible from the guide and if you buy in bulk you would have a good amount to last you for a while.

Have fun!

Thanks for the welcome. I am going to buy the 40 carbine new and get the 40 sw pistol used. The place that I go gets them in from time to time and they look as new. A lot of times people will buy the 40 and the trade it in on a glock or a riffle.

I wish the pistol had a 15 round clip, I also wish there was a working clip for the carbine of either 15 or 30 rounds.

I know a lot of police officers that really like the 40 carbine and can carry it as back up in there vehicles but do not because of the low clips. A drum for the carbine would rock. When the crap hits the fan you want to be armed with a good caliber and with enough rounds till back up can arrive.

Thanks

I almost dare not speak these words here, but there is an aftermarket 15 rnd mag for the C9. That being said, it is notorious for not working well and taking much TLC to have it function properly. However, just something to be aware of.

Actually its for the 995 Carbine not the C9 pistol... the 15 round Mag that is ... it's made by ProMag

Welcome to the forum, Paul. You will love the JCP (40 SW-B). I recommend getting the Hogue grip sleeve for it... it made a big difference to me. I do not yet have the 4095, but it is definitely on my wish list.

The only issue I have had with my 995 was the Promag 15 round magazine. I do not, would not, cannot recommend that POS to anyone. I know that some members here have gotten them to work, but I have not the patience to try and fix something that should come fully functional from the seller. The gun and all three factory mags have been nigh flawless, Hi-Point customer service is legendary, and it is without a doubt my favorite long gun to shoot.

Anyway, welcome to the addiction. Be sure to post pics of your new acquisitions.
Told ya I shouldn't have said anything...

In a thread like this, it was bound to turn up sooner or later Kyu... like a bad penny. Seriously though, if anyone can get one to work, and work on a regular basis, then by all means go with it. I mean, 50% more KAPOW is never a bad thing, right?
I bought one of the mags for the 4095 and have been using it for my JCP40 with no problems what so ever.

Actually a lot of LEOs DO carry Hi Point carbines either 9 mm or 40 cals, even tho it only has 10 rnd mags they still like em
G
Dumb question here but how many factory magazines does the 995 come with NIB?
