I have wrapped a few barrels in carbon fiber wrap on my airguns but never have tried a real firearm barrel. I was thinking of wrapping my C9 barrel but wanted to ask you guys if you think it will hold up to the heat? I use automotive quality wrap that can withstand outdoor elements and heat from the sun. I don't know what do you guys think?

    First question is why?
When I go shooting the barrel gets too hot to touch.
Automotive wrap is probably good till 120F-F160 if I had to take a guess.

Something different is why, I think it would look cool when the slide is held open... You are probably right though SWAGA, It might not hold up to the heat :(

  4. If anything it will hold the heat in by not allowing air to flow around barrel. On automotive use that wrap is to keep heat out of engine compartment by not letting it radiate off the headers.

    No that's exhaust wrap.
Carbon fibre wrap is put on hoods and trunks and is more ornamental then anything else.its used instead of paint.
Exhaust wrap is much thinker and you'd never be able to get the slide back on.

SWAGA is correct, it's only for looks. I think this idea is not going to work lol...

Barrel gets too hot. Now the zinc block that shows through the ejection port? That doesn't get very hot at all.

The ejection port is an option, I was thinking about that too. I was trying to do something like what I did to the barrel of this airgun. These barrels don't get hot though.

No, the chamber is the hole in the rear of the barrel. The metal forming the outside of that is the "steel block", you can see it in the exploded drawing, its part 37...

"Steel block" pretty much describes the entire gun!

I usually have to let the JHP cool down 10-15 minutes before I can pack it up.

well to each their own but I think the carbon fiber look has been done to death.
