Picked up another blue box special yesterday gentleman! My apologies for not posting till now, a friend I went to high school with has fallen of the wagon a bit and gone missing, so if you would keep his friends and family in mind.

But on to the gun! I decided to go with the XSP over the mustang and the micro carry for many reasons.

    1. Polymer won't scratch as bad when in the pocket with my knife, keys, etc.
    2. Polymer is more resistant to corrosion
    3. Lighter weight makes pocket carry a breeze
    4. Polymer tends to be more reliable as tolerances aren't as tight
    5. The blacked out look just looked cooler!
    6. Frame to slide fit

And so on and so forth.

The gun has been a giggle to carry, you forget it's in your pocket till you go digging for something and SURPRISE! There's a gun in your pants.

I wore it all evening yesterday riding in my shorts pocket, and currently have it in my pants pocket to get used to pocket carry. A pocket holster is certainly in order!

I haven't had time to go to the range or break it down and get some pictures but I'll get on that for you all as soon as I get home this evening, for now here's a teaser:

  2. I was unaware that Colt had got their feet wet in the poly frame market. Wonder how long before Colt starts building poly duty guns.

  3. That is there first polymer gun I beleive.

I like it a good rival for the S&W body guard. I like the 1911 looks of it for sure. Like a new born 1911 :p

It's their first dabbling since the Colt 2000 All American, which was an utter disaster.

It was pricey, but it's also the only thing that ticked all my boxes I had set for a small pocket .380.

-Lighter/smaller than sig p238 and kimber micro carry
-Better SA trigger than sig/kimber (atleast of the examples I had access to)
    - SA trigger (eliminates lcp, tcp, 3AT)
    - external safety
    - dovetail sights
    - room for two fingers on the grip
    - fills palm comfortably
    - natural ergo's (the sig just feels too blocky in the hand, as does the kimber)
    Etc. Etc.

So while pricey, I did get what I believe to be the "best" gun for what I wanted. Hopefully it'll last my lifetime as well.

I don't necessarily have a desire for pocket pistols, or the .380 in general, but it fills a need I have which is deep concealing a firearm in the workplace where my wardrobe isn't adaptable.

Range report will be coming this Sunday, and pictures after work today.

Curious which one you'd end up liking more, the Colt pocket 9 or your new purchase.

I've resisted the urge to fire the pocket nine so far, but it's wearing on me more and more.

The XSP will take it's first range trip tomorrow

i really like the look of the Colt, i just wish it could come in a price range more competitive with the G42.

Pocket pistols need a dedicated pocket and a pocket holster. No room for keys, knives, nickels, dimes or quarters. Then the pistol doesn't get lost and you know it's there....

I have some large pockets on my dress slacks, so far I've been carrying it in the same pocket as my Spyder co tenacious.

The knife clips to the pocket, leaving plenty of from for the Colt to ride, and my hand to reach down to it.

That said I have had to switch phone and key pockets to accommodate the pistol, a necessary evil as I'd much rather have a gun for protection over an iphone.

    Nice presentation, PapaT!
I'm starting to look at pocket guns now that I have my SHTF needs covered in spades :D I will likely go with a 380 or something smaller, which means a new caliber and the need to purchase oodles of ammo for it as well LOL!

I use only a pocket holster when I wear cargo pants and a Remora tuckable for everything else even dress pants.
    Some suggestions here:

  19. I have been pocket carrying for 2 years now. Definitely need a dedicated pocket. I actually prefer back pocket carry. But my wife thinks I'll get pick pocketed and loose my gun.
