cracked stock

Discussion in 'Gunsmith shop' started by SPCsierra, Mar 9, 2016.

  1. I noticed a crack in the stock of my kessler right behind the bolt. Could I fix it with some wood filler or some glue? Or do I have to buy a new stock?

There are ways to fix it. I'd suggest checking out the Surplus rifles forum, there is a guy called Candyman that does really good stock work, and explains how to do it all, so you can do it yourself.

My guess is you'll want to cross drill and add a dowel or screw across the crack when you glue it, counter sink it, and cover it with some of the sawdust mixed with glue to get a decent color match. If you care about that.;)
