Dad shot my JHP

Went to mom and dad's over the weekend and let my dad shoot my JHP. He enjoyed it a lot more than when I let him shoot my C9. He said that the C9 hurt his hands and the JHP was more comfortable for him to shoot.

Now you know what to buy him!
Yes, I certainly do. It started in about 1985 and I was in Pierson Brothers and they had a Savage 30-30 over a 20 gauge on Father's Day and I took it home to him and stood in the doorway between the hallway and living room with it hid behind my leg and when he asked me what I was up to I handed it to him and he cried.

Next the Ammo Dump had a Savage 99 in 250/3000 that I bought for him and left him speechless.

Next he'd always wanted a Ruger Red Label and I found one at Tri State Sporting Goods in 28ga, and he ended up with that one.

Then there was a conversation we had about a 25-06, and he said if he was ever rich and famous he would like to have one. Well I was at a Pawn Shop and they had a Mauser Model 96 in 25-06 so I layed it away. When I gave it to him I told him, you may never be rich and famous, but you're dad, and that's close enough for me.

Then there was the 7X57 that he wanted. The closest thing I could find was a Savage Model 200 in 7mm-08 so I bought that. When I gave it to him, I told him it's not exactly what you wanted but it's as close as I can get. A few months later I was in the Pawn Shop that I got the 25-06 in and they had an Interarms Mark X in 7x57 and he got that, personally I think the trigger is too light, but he says it's perfect.

After that he and I were discussing him always wanting a bolt action 35 Remington. So one day I was in Rural King and they had a Remington Model 700 in 243. I decided since I work only a few miles from Douglas Barrels that dad was going to have what he wanted. There's a long story behind dad's getting it, but it ends with dad crying and being happy.

Now I'm on the hunt for a Colt Gold Cup or something in 38 Super and a bolt action 250 Savage of which I think I know how I'm going to do that, it won't be exactly what he wants, but he'll be happy.

So yeah, I know a little bit about what to get him.

For the Savage, check out E.R. Shaw. Not pawn shop prices, but definitely an heirloom gun. RIA makes a .38 Super.
I've already got plans on the 250 Savage, I just need to find a Savage Model 110 or 10 in 22/250, then he'll have a switch barrel rifle.
