Evening everyone,

First, I hope everybody is doing well and having a great New Year's!

Second, this is a general RFI on the diomandback DB9. Anyone here have any experience with it, good or bad? Any other relevant experience with the brand that would steer you towards or away from one?

Thanks!

Regards,
Foolsgold39

Edit: I assume this is the right place to post this? If not feel free to move it. Thanks!

Rtm,

Thank you! I've actually been checking out that forum the past few days, but previous to that I had no idea it was out there. Good stuff on the the new generation, thanks.

A few follow up questions, if you dont mind? How long have you had the DB380? Approximate round count? Over all impressions? Any issues you've experienced?

Thanks buddy, hope your having a good one.

Regards,
Foolsgold39
FYI - I carry the DB380. If I can find a Gen 4 DB9 locally, I'll be buying it.

Latest generation of the DB9 is the one to get (Gen 4). You can put Glock sights on it (night sights). It also has LRHO.

You can find out more on Diamondback Forum (www.diamondbackforum.com). It isn't a very active site, but if you can read what others have said about the DB9.

I have two DB380.
One I bought on sale new at Rural King, the 2nd was used. I have had them for approximately 5 years.
The one I carry has around 300 rounds through it.
The 2nd was for the wife, but she has never fired it (she stopped going to the range around 4 years ago, finally got cataract surgery last year and will go to the range after covid-19 is put down.)

Had mine done the first part of Feb, just before they quit for covid. Thank god, the 2nd eye was done days before shutting down or I would have gone nuts one done, one not. Still haven't been to the range yet. They closed too and when they reopened I have still stayed away because of my wife's lung disease and the fear of bringing home Covid that would most likely kill her. Love no glasses!

As far as issues, yes, LOTS of issues, mostly failure to feed.
The fixes I did for it were maybe over the top, but it's made it the perfect pocket gun for me.

I put a Hogue HandAll BGS (meant for Glock 42/43)
changes were to buy Kel-Tec 380 mags, Pearce Grip extensions, and Wolff springs. This got rid of all the FTFs. Once I filed down the Pearce Grip extensions, they worked great.) The Pearce Grip extensions is documented here:

Rtm,

Thank you very much for the info. Clever fixes, and good stuff to know. Thanks!
Glad your wife was able to get her eyes tweaked, bad vision sucks. Im blind as a bat without my birth control (glasses). I really should carry 2 guns, one for each of the blurry bastards if i ever loose my glasses lol.

As far as cataract surgery, I was told I needed it too...I wasn't happy with it at all as my left eye was damaged back in 1983 (blind spot and bad vision over the years) and the surgery was not much help (still have bad vision in that eye)
My right eye was okay with glasses, but went ahead with the surgery...now have a large floater that interferes with sight along with a veil/curtain along with it. So they actually made my vision worse (not as far as seeing things but as far as seeing too many things caused by the surgery).
And yes, she loves hers just fine.

Also, the DB9 Gen 4 has a much better pinkie grip than either the older DB9's or DB380 have. Another + for the DB9 Gen 4!
I'm really intrigued by the DB 9. I've always carried full size pistols, but will probably find myself needing a pocket rocket soon. Might end up spending a fair amount of time in a NPE. Carry will be completely legal but highly frowned upon.

Also looking real hard at kahrs, and the kel tec p9. Any thoughts?

Regards,.

I sincerely hope you wife is doing ok.

Thanks for your concern. So far free of Covid, but her Pulmonary Fibrosis is getting worse. There is no cure, only a couple of meds that hopefully slow the progression of lung fibrosis. Her's cost $149,000.00/yr. Mfg. is going to cover the cost if we meet their requirements which we should.

My ophthalmologist told me I'm lucky to not have floaters. I get affected by light in my right eye causing a shadow like distortion and need sunglasses more than before. For me it was worth the surgery. I had high pressure in my eye and it was this or drilling a hole in my cornea to relieve the pressure.

Yea, the wife had narrow angle glaucoma, and had the hole drilled into her eye with a laser...which was done as an emergency because her pressure was so bad that they thought it would blind her.
So the eye doc told me I had it (NAG) when she said I needed cataract surgery, I already knew how bad it could be.
I still wonder if she said that so I would get the costly surgery.

So never. Its not ever going to go away. Too many people have it. It will never go away.
