    Holy Shizzle - that thar's a brown bar - not that big (as brownies go) but thoroughly dangerous. I wouldn't have shot him with anything less than a 30-30. If he came pounding on my door, there'd be something else turning brown (my skivvies) :eek:
     

  3. While a 45acp is definitely to light for bear, i could see it bringing one down if he unloaded a mag into him in the vitals at a close range. May or may not be a true story, but its plausable.

    What is not mentioned in the article is how far he had to track the bear before it finally dropped. The foamy blood around the mouth indicates the animal survived the initial shooting for some time before succumbing to its injuries. Could have been minutes, hours or days.

    I'm no hunter but doesn't foamy blood indicate a lung shot?

    Lung or throat generally. A wild animal like that can still do a lot of damage with a collapsed lung.

    I can see it. We bow hunt bear around here so it's not out of the frame of plausibility.
