I love my c9. I'm always highly impressed at it's accuracy, even at golf balls from 25 yards. However, it does have one slight issue. Almost every magazine I run through it drops out of the grip on either the last round or the next to last round (usually the last round), causing a FTF (obviously) and no small amount of irritation. I was wondering, short of sending it back in to Hi Point (which I am very near doing) to see if they can fix the problem, what do you all recommend?

I have tried the following 'fixes'

1) loading different number of rounds each time I shoot ( 2,3-5-7-8 ) They are, by the way, factory 8rd mags.

2) adjusting my grip to make sure I'm not bumping the mag release button. I'm pretty sure I'm not, but who can say for certain what's happening when the slide slams back.

3) using different magazines. I have 3 factory 8rd mags, and they all have this issue

4) adjusting and polishing feed lips. That helped with all my other ftf problems, but the mags are still dropping.

It seems that I've read somewhere that some c9's have this magazine release problem and that hi point can send a part that will fix it, rather than having to ship the gun off.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now. Any suggestions you have would be great.

Thanks

Oh, and thanks to all responsible for getting this new forum up so quickly. Excellent work!

Not sure if it applies at all here, but the JHP was the first automatic that I ever fired. As such, my grip wasn't quite on. I found myself dropping mags on the first and last rounds as my grip would shift, and my thumb was right on the mag release. I just corrected my grip and it took care of it. Actually wrapped my non-firing hand thumb over my firing hand thumb for a while till I broke the habit. May want to try that a bit.

Sounds like your mag release spring is bad. Call Hi Point ask to talk to a tech and describe the problem to him he may send you a new release kit. This kit replaces the spring and release button in your C9 and is very easy to do.

I had the same problem when I went shooting this past Saturday, and it had never happened before. The slide was locking back after every shot. I shifted my grip a little and it didn't happen again. I assume I was hitting the mag release and it was dropping just enough to engage the disconnector. I started holding my left thumb over my right and that took care of it.

I took a dremel, and polished the mag release down flush with the grips. It's still really easy to drop the mags when you want to, but I haven't accidentally hit the release since then.

All right now, pay attention kids, I'm only going to sing this once...

"Oh, when the word's possessive, it's "Y-O-U-R", but when it's supposed to be a contraction, it's "Y-O-U-'-R-E". Scalawag."
