I've heard that instead of water I could substitute a mixture of glycerine and nitric acid. Guy telling me was a bit vague but said it would make the results much more visually appealing.

    Yeah, that's the plan.

Hey, look! I made a nuclear-tipped handgun round! And then this rises above the range...

But to quote your posts about 6 times, you keep insisting your ratio was right, because you followed a recipe.

It wasn’t. Obviously. Because you used the wrong recipe with a substitute ingredient, and didn’t account for “the wrong ingredients”.

What you did was the equivalent of reloading modern cartridges with black powder, then wondering why the 4.2 grains load under your 230 grain bullet didn’t reach 850 FPS. Black powder isn’t TiteGroup, just like Jello isn’t Knox gelatin.

But if you account for that fact and use the right recipe for the wrong powder....it will still work.

Which is what I wrote. A bunch of times.

    <sigh>

Me: I did it wrong because I used the wrong stuff.
Everyone else: YOU DID IT WRONG BY USING THE WRONG STUFF!!!
Me: Yeah, I know. I used the wrong stuff and it didn't turn out right.
Everyone else: YOU DID IT WRONG BY USING THE WRONG STUFF!!!
Me: Yeah. I'll use the right stuff next time.
Everyone else: BUT YOU USED THE WRONG STUFF!!!

To be fair, I have always maintained the fact that you used too much water. You were the one insisting your recipe was stronger than my facts.

"We believe in truth over facts."

Sorry. That quote popped into my head when I read that.

  10. I throw a cup or two of Tannerite in there just to make sure that you get that 'big goopy jello mess' you're looking for. Make sure you use the proper proportions tho. Yer' using knox gelatin, right?

You know, if you use cranberry juice instead of water, you should still get a beautiful red color.

uses gallon jugs of water for penetration tests, just skip the gelatin.

I thought about that too. But the penetration is different. I thought seriously about using Wet Pack as well but it still has a very very different penetration.

Dude that is awesome! I'd of loved to see it first hand. I just finally got a case of the Knox unflavored gelatin from Amazon along with some Cinnamon bark to make some ballistic gel. Since we'll be shooting it indoors at the range, I have to be sure it isn't too messy. How big are your containers? I'm having trouble finding the right size to fit in my fridge (side x side).

Well, I was amused by it, even if it was at my own expense.

Did you use anything like cooking spray in them , how easy did they come out? I've always wanted to do this and I'm just going by You Tube stuff (not always too reliable).

I did in the second and final tub. It came out pretty easy I just had to make sure I flexed the tub around the edges so that a vacuum wouldn't form at the seal.
