Wifey got a call today from one of her friends. She inherited a couple of guns when her dad passed away about a year ago. Asked my wife if she would mind me teaching her how to shoot. Partially disabled due to diabetes foot surgery late 50-ies. So I talk to her over the phone and she would like me to teach her how to handle, shoot and clean her dads 1911, yeah the one I've been eyeballing. And no she doesn't want to sell it. So we're meeting Friday and when my wife heads off to work we're going to a nearby indoor range. I was thinking about the following: Basic handling and safety checks I have .45 snap caps Dominant eye check Some trigger practice One or two YouTube videos with me explaining. To the range, buy their overpriced lead free BS ammo Start real close like 6-7 feet to score some hits. When the comfort level increase go to 10-15-20 feet and maybe a couple of shots at 30 feet of she's not overloaded by then. I have two sets of electronic ear muffs. Did I forget anything? Pretty cool that she considers me to do it!
