Finally saw cloverfield.

  1. It was ok. Worth a rental probably. At first the camera did annoy me but after a few minutes in I didnt even notice. I was more interested in the monster and how they were going to kill it, where it came from, what it was, etc than the guy and the girl story.

    I give it a C.

I REALLYYYYY liked it! I thought it was really neat how it was filmed and really gave you the feeling that it was a real home video. I wasn't impressed with the monster however and wished it was different...but you can't have it all.

I guess they are in the middle of working on a Cloverfield 2!!

I thought it was good for what they were trying to do (Point of View film).

However, for the sequel I hope they do a more omniscient version with better explanations and more events. They could obviously do a thousand different versions of "citizen's camera," as there could be any number of people shooting vacations, home videos, pornos (heh...), or just videoing interesting things on the street. On top of that, there are also probably lots of people who might actually get out their own cameras after the events started.

However, because that fact is so obvious, I hope they don't pursue that path again.

That said, as a movie in general I give it perhaps a B. The experience was unique but I didn't think the entire movie would be solely from that POV. I figured it would be flashbacks to that footage or just cut back and forth between it (when the scene was focused on these characters) and other concurrent events.

The scene when the troops are running down the street shooting at the monster all I could think of was "dude, pick up that brass they are leaving" lol

    .223 is getting spendy.

I find movies involving guns always leave a different impression for me than anyone else. lol. I always point out what gun they use to my girlfriend at the movies too, she hates it.

  5. Holy crap! I thought I was the only one  I get pissed when they shoot for 10 mins straight with no reload. For example, Robocop. Love that movie but you never see him reload

And people tend to look at you funny when you call out a gun at the movies.

did ya notice the little tidbit at the end? where it shows footage of them on that ride and in the background is the ocean.. you can see if yer lookin for it, something fall in the water WAY in the distance and make a splash...

  8. ahh...see I thought about that...i honestly did....its like they held the shot on the ocean for just a second to long. But it was late and I was to tired to rewind just to check. lol

Did not like the ending. They went through all that only to get blasted in the end.

Like The Mist. They went through all that only to die a few minutes before the army showed up to save everyone.

They were ok otherwise, I just don't care for movies with suckie endings.

oh don't get me started on "The Mist". the ending of that movie ticked me off so much I have sworn off Stephen King movies forever.

I've never seen a lot of his and actually wanted to see them but after this movie, I won't even give them a chance.

Think I hold grudges much? lol

spoilers? shoulda seen that coming... anyway, i really liked this movie. however i didn't getta see the splash. so i gotta go rent it again...

  13. the mist spoiler. They die right before the army got there?

sound like a spoiler to me.

  14. the mist was cool. any ending that leaves you mad, sad or glad
is worthy. it generated an emotional response. which is what is
was suppose to do. i liked it.

I didn't want to say what happened, just that the ending really hacked me off!

  16. Okay, I saw Cloverfield, but don't remember anything splashing in the water. What was it? PM me if it's a spoiler.

I saw Cloverfield and really didn't care for the new-age style of filming. Got up and walked out half way through. I could kick myself in the b__t for not leaving sooner.

sorry if mine was like a spoiler.. but im not really in agreement that it could be stated as a spoiler.. just my opinion..

anyways... watch it and see it and in MY opinion.. that little quick scene on the ocean wraps the movie up very nicely...
