I'll start.

Last Monday evening after work, the wife and I went to a slightly larger neighboring town to do some necessity shopping. We didn't want to make supper before leaving or when we got home due to time. This means we went to Subway after grabbing the needed things. I thought the peppers looked a bit "saved", but I usually eat whatever without major repercussions. "It'll be fine!" I told my observant self.

Side notes: I eat spicy foods of all kinds almost constantly. Two week old leftovers are not abnormal for me. Mold on cheese and sometimes even bread don't necessarily deter me. Cut it off and get to it.

Kept waking up from about midnight onward with bad heartburn. Not too much of a surprise since we didn't eat until after 7pm and I have some acid reflux issues. At about 3am, I realized that I should go to the bathroom for some kneeling-&-thinking time. A major mandatory evacuation from the north side occurred. Okay. Gargled and rebrushed the tooth.

Under an hour later, I woke back up and thought the same thing was maybe occurring. On the way to the bathroom, my balance started getting all wonky. When I entered the bathroom and started kneeling, I lost some control and fell over. Then slowly propped myself against the tub. My wife was wondering what happened and came into the bathroom. Within moments of her getting there, apparently my breathing started getting quick and then my eyes rolled back into my head and I slouched onto the floor. Within a minute I phased back into existence to her slapping me, yelling and starting to cry. As I regained consciousness and started talking. Wife let our shaking (out of fear) Pitbull come in and lay her head on me while wife and I talked. She (possibly also Pitbull) wanted to call 911, but I refused. Within a few minutes, I got myself up and went back to bed with dog sticking to me like she was on a two foot leash. In a bit, wife went to work. Though very reluctantly.

I called my boss at about 6am telling the story so far. Needless to say, I wasn't going to work that day. Got up at 7am and found my balance was pretty good. Spent most of the rest of the day on the couch with the my little fuzzy buddy. Only getting up for liquids, Cheerios, our potty breaks and the sudden early afternoon doctors visit. Without getting into the color/consistency details, every tummy rumbling over the next 30 hours (!) was a steady stream of mandatory evacuations from the south side. Excess stretching &/or tooting was NOT an option.

At the doctors office that day. They found that my blood pressure was low. Possibly due to a lack of fluids. I had already been sucking water and one Pedialyte (by that point anyway). Doc wanted to do EKG and blood tests, which I declined until I got some reassurance from my as-yet untested health insurance. I've been working there for a little under six months. They pushed pretty hard to do them though. So I had the tests done on Thursday morning. I can't wait for the bill.

The tests showed that I'm in way better health than they should have. Considering the fact that I'm a portly (not grossly obese) middle-aged guy. No warning signs, by the numbers. But by that point I wasn't dehydrated. That was the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had! It was far worse than the Taco Bell issues from two months prior. My wife had zero issues either time.

I have had so many stomach problems, you'd be surprised. I'm 24, healthy guy going to med school. What I don't tell people is that I suffer from IBS-D and I'm prescribed prescription strength Immodium (240 tablets per a month!) and I have to be careful what I eat and like any guy. I love a damn steak or even Mcdonalds. Fast food is great and so tasty but it makes my IBS-D flare up and in turn makes me pissed off. In 2020 as apart of my yearly physical. I had a blood test and they saw I had a odd liver count. Asked me to come back in for a repeat blood test and boom, again. They did a ultrasound on my liver and stomach area to see what was causing it. Nothing was causing the liver to act at all weird.

HOWEVER, they found I had gallstones and I evidently had them for at least two years and it was infected very badly (my gallbladder) and I had no idea. The surgeon himself told me and my mom, if I would of waited or if the doctor didn't catch the odd liver count on my blood work. I wouldn't be here writing you guys (and possibly gals) now. I ended up having to get my gallbladder removed. Felt like a bear bit into the me after and I was in pain. I was prescribed a limited supply of Morphine Extended Release tablets (I think like 9?) and Oxycodone tablets (also was 9 I think). I used them and it really helped turn what felt like a bear biting into the side of your stomach into nothing. Hopefully knocks on wood I won't need to get any more surgeries.

I'm already scheduled for an endoscopy and a colonoscopy to investigate about my constant nausea and to check with the IBS-D and then from there work out a treatment plan which hopefully will end with me being fully cured of my constant nausea and the IBS-D but I've read online that most people tend to be stuck with IBS-D for the rest of their lives. I only pray my kids (when I have them) never have IBS-D.

Also, sorry for the off topic story and stomach problems stuff, but hey man. You talk about food poisoning you're getting the full kit! =P

Never food poisoning... I do remember the year my little brother ate a McBarf filet o fish on the way home. The tartar sauce must have been bad because he barfed fr 3 days straight. Had to put him in the hospital on IV fluids because he was cramping so bad he couldn't move...

When I was in the hospital for the LEG blood clot the damn food service gave half the hospital noro virus. I was supposed to be laying still in bed and instead I was sitting up barfing into a bag every 90 minutes for 12 hours... was NOT my idea of fun. Turns out one of the food service employees came in sick because they didn't want to miss work/pay... and they made the salads that day... which I ate... Hospital had to dump the days food production because they weren't sure what that employee had touched and sanitize the entire kitchen and employee bathroom in that area. My doc told me about it on a follow up visit.

This was over about sixteen years ago and I still remember it. I ate some leftovers from a Christmas party that were a few days old in the refrigerator. It made my wife and I very sick. I had the worse case of diarrhea and gut pains. I think it took me over 48 hours to get over it. It felt like my large intestine was going to fall out of my anus. It was so so terrible. Never want to experience that ever again.

While sitting at General Quarters night of 22nd of November, 1975, aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67), several of the crew were released to pick up food from the forward galley - sandwich and fruit.
Box lunches that were shared out - 1/2 bologna and either apple or orange.
Some of the sandwiches were damp.

Long about 5 hours after eating, about ten of the crew became sickened and filled one of the trash cans with their spew.

Taken to sickbay, after diagnosis, they were informed they had food poison - the dampness was caused by an oil product.

A week later, the worst case was back with the division.

Rest Peacefully to those who died that night.

When I was in boot MANY years ago our whole damn company got food poisoning from some frozen and defrosted room temp pastry crap we got served at chow. Some time later much vomiting and abundant defecation ensued for an extended period of time. (There is no truth to the rumor that some of us made observations and compared dump proportions during the event.)

Just because there's no truth to a rumor, doesn't mean it shouldn't be spread.

I ate some ham I knew was on the edge. I’ll just cook it really hard, it will be fine, I told myself.

Never again. Several days of “what goes in MUST come out, and that will happen IMMEDIATELY”. Since all I could stand to put in was liquids, that wasn’t hard to accomplish. I slept about 16 hours each day, and every muscle in my body hurt, including the muscles used to move my eyes.

I was a broke bachelor, no doctor, no meds. Probably lucky I didn’t simply not wake up one morning.

I once food poisoned 10 people with a turkey I baked.

Took about a week for everyone to figure out we ALL had the same thing the same night. That was the worst stomach issue I ever had. Worse than any case of noro-virus I ever had.

On a bus tour in Poland, some dairy product at one of the meals did not sit well with about half the group on the bus.
Nasty day.
SWMBO and I had not partaken, thankfully.

Then there was that one sip of water from the tap in Spain....

I've been told I've got a cast iron gut...

Now you might feel a little pressure.
