What is the best footwear for survival?
I've always thought it would be a lace up high top boot 10" for me as my ankles have always been somewhat weak.
But, I can see the merits of a softer shoe or, moccasin.

The best pair of boots I've ever owned were 10" high lace up thinsulate insulated leather lug soled Sears brand boots.
They cost me $59 back in 1983.
Were resoled once in1989.
Disappeared in 1991 - the year I suffered a spiral fracture of my right fibula.
I've owned a couple of other boots since then - Red Wing and Brazos.
They got the job done but, weren't as good as the Sears boots.
