Gearing up for the .360 Buckhammer

Still super excited about this caliber. The Henry rifles chambered so are supposed to be out this summer. Mine will be the single shot, although the brass frame lever is tempting. I am still debating on rechambering my Henry brass single shot 357 magnum to 360 BHMR. It has a twist rate of 1:16 though. The cartridge itself is specified for 1:12. I think it would probably be an exercise in frustration. I just do not think it will stabilize the 200 grain cast bullets I intend to use.

Speaking of the cast bullets, I have purchased the RCBS 35 200 FN and RCBS Dies, actually the dies are "coming soon" so a pre-order. lee makes a .358-200-RF die and has the Pacesetter dies in stock. I can go that route, but prices are comparable. I can wait on the RCBS.

I am going to start with 1680 powder. I think that will be a good place to take off from. And I have 200 30-30 cases just waiting to be formed.

I am super excited about this cartridge.

I believe the February or March issue of Rifleman did a write-up on this very caliber. I looked through the read and seems interesting, and last thing I need is another caliber to add to the ammo fort. They should have a digital read out online by now. I don't have the magazine anymore as I burned it along with some other mags.
If it is as successful as 350 Legend has been, it’s probably not a bad way to go. I could buy brass through the entire Covid insanity, even when absolutely nothing else was on the shelves.

Since 35 Whelen is pretty much dead…this is a way to get that solid thumper without going to the 45 calibers.

Even if it flops I will be able to keep mine alive. It’s costing me about 30 cents a piece to stock up on brass.
