ANY OLD SMIFF is worth restoring!!!
I have an original 686 NO DASH (8-3/8") and a heavy barrel Model 13-1 very good condition.

You could maybe even DIY it but I'd seek a professional plating service... nickel is may e around $10 per pound but plating stock could be lots higher. It's an electroplating process and lots of trial and error for a novice like us.

Do It Yourself...

Standard ACRONYM. But nickel plating is probably almost as involved as Chrome plating. Chrome plating has a few layers of base metals, for various reasons, I think some are for shine, others for durability and maybe even corrosion resistance.

I believe anodizing is simpler, but then it would be modified as opposed to restoring the nickel plate.

Hahaha, I read it but he didn't use the bath method anyway. Or I guess you could call it the Sponge-Bath Method
