My mom gave me a pocket knife today. I first thought it was my dads, but I later found out it came from an uncle who passed away sometimes in the 80’s I think. Don’t think it has ever been used.

From what I can gather the brand was made in Germany up until 2004 when it was sold and production was started up in China. From what I gather the Chinese knives are not well thought of. This one is marked Owl Head. Handmade in Germany and the blade is marked Solingen. Has a double Owl Head emblem on both blades. The scales seem to be either bone or stag, and fit and finish is perfect. The blades have a very strong snap.

Has anyone heard of these?

Never heard of this one, but I like the look. Simple, yet elegant. Beautiful piece

There seems to be two “runs” of these knives. Older ones were made in Germany, 100% for export, decent quality for a basic work knife.

They were sold off, and became Chinese, but unmarked, still claiming to be German. No one knows if the steel was German, or not, but the quality was terrible.

My guess based on the marking is that one is the older version.
