First I found out that one of the best performing bullets for reloading the 5.7 has been discontinued. The 35 gr. frangible Interceptor Sport round is no longer available. It was cheap, fast as hell, and frangible which made it fun to shoot steel with safely! I also found out that my FFL is hanging it up at 91yr.s old. I guess he earned it, lol. I've been looking into getting mine but where I live it's damn near impossible. That's gonna' limit my future gun purchases!

I feel your pain. I'm always looking for inexpensive but good performing bullets. And I have a limited number of FFL's that I like and will be very disappointed if any of them decided to close.

Peace favor your sword ( mobile)

Yeah, my FFL is pushing 80 himself. Not looking forward to the day he retires.

I have other options around here but they get kinda pricey... like $35-50 a transfer. My guy still charges me the $10 that he always has. I have purchased quite a few from him also, on those there is no transfer fee per se - kinda rolled into quoted price along with tax.

Good FFLs are few and far between. Most in a given area seem to all keep that same $30-40 fee. Palmetto State Armory used to charge a discounted $20 for military, which was nice, but I haven't found anyone who charges so little. The next best was Take Aim in Monroe, North Carolina. You can pick guns up from them and avoid shipping charges when you order from Classic Firearms, and they only charged $25. I didn't mind driving up there from Columbia on a Saturday to get my guns.

My favorite FFL passed away young (6o ish). Eating supper at the dinner table and just fell over. He would order me anything I wanted, and just add $20 to his cost. Always had 22 long rifle for me during the drought. Plus he had fishing And outdoorsy stuff. One stop shopping.

I was glad to see a family member reopen the store about a year after his passing, kept the same name, but I don’t get the special pricing and favors anymore. Still, she is fair and it’s my favorite fun store again.

My main LGS charges $27 for FFL and their processing fee, but another (where I got the Carcano and a few others) has started charging $50!!! I'm hoping that doesn't last long but I won't be going back.

My main LGS (actually 2 LGSs) are operated by folks from 30-50 so they should be here a while, at least longer than I will.
