Hello, all -

I just bought my first Hi-Point, a model 4595 carbine, and I am loving it. I see and read people bad-mouthing HP, and really can't comprehend why. I am a former competition shooter of muzzleloaders, and am learning about these newfangled things that load from the wrong end. I lost my left leg in a freak accident and can no longer compete, but I still enjoy getting out to shoot. Feel free to chat me up. Scotty might even answer you. You picked a nice first end loader--and the right caliber. Enjoy it, and feel free to ask any questions as you gain more curiosity about it. It begs for modifications after a while.

Howdy, Think1st, and thanks for the reply. Actually, I have a few "rear-end loaders" - I probably didn't write that intro very well. I've owned modern pistols for many years, but now I'm having to learn about the tactical stuff, and rifles. I've already put a few mods on this piece, but am very interested in learning more. It now sports real Picatinny rails, a light with a momentary/on-off switch attached to the HP front grip, and a red dot sight set so I can look through the electric sight and see the opens. Haven't had a chance to shoot it since the modifications were done, though!!

Welcome from an old guy in Kentucky. I've got the 4595 and love it. I've shot semi wadcutters thru it with no problem and every thing else I feed it. Can't find another 45 carbine anywhere that is so reliable and affordable.
