Have you ever encountered a gun that was shaped and sized very similarly to a Hi-Point JCP/JHP?

  • Yes, I have!

  • Nope, there's nothing shaped like a Hi-Point.

Guns that are the same size and approximate shape as Hi-Point JCP?

Hello everyone! I just got my fiancee a used, new-style Hi-Point JCP for $110 and he loves it, he's been able to fire really tight groups with it right away and its performed flawlessly. I have been looking around at holsters and I fell in love with Savoy Custom Holsters: https://www.savoyleather.com/product-category/holsters/

I got him a gift certificate to the store for Christmas so he could pick out his own custom holster. However, when I asked if Savoy could make a custom holster for a Hi-Point, since they make custom holsters, they replied they don't make holsters for Hi-Points. However, they make holsters for a wide selection of guns, from full sized Desert Eagles, to Glocks, to Beretta's, to tiny .380 pistols, and I'm even getting one made for my Walther P38, a very weirdly shaped gun by today's standards.

I've been wondering if there are any fairly well-known guns that have a very similar size, shape, and profile to the Hi-Point, so that my fiancee could order a custom leather holster for his Hi-Point that would fit well. I figured he'd have to use the gift card for a holster to the CC gun he's planning on getting, but he's been really impressed with the Hi-Point, and IMO a lot of the point of such a decorative, sturdy holster is for open carry of large guns anyway.

I've been disappointed with the variety of holsters offered for Hi-Point guns. They severely need more support in this area, especially since high-quality craftsmen seem to dismiss Hi-Points from the market even though they are a large, loyal subsection of today's gun culture. I think if there was a common or older firearm that had a very similar size and profile, this would be useful information for anyone else who wants to have custom holsters made for their Hi-Points.

You have to admit, it would be both hilarious and awesome, walking around with a heavily decorated custom Savoy handpainted holster, and a thick, black Hi-Point cradled inside it like a prize 1911. A beautiful holster paired with a gunsnob's worst nightmare, the supposed "ugliest gun" on the market...

Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing your suggestions! I'll continue to do research and measurements as well, to try to find a match!

This is the leather HP holster they sell for the JHP/JCP. The Glock G20 fits ok, but you can't snap the retention strap. I have some Safariland and Blackhawk holsters for the G20, I'll try the JCP in them and let you know if that would work.

@ajole Those are some nice looking leather holsters too. Good to know about. And thank you for testing out your various guns in your holsters to find a size match!
Well...the JCP does NOT fit the G20 Kydex holsters. The slide is too wide to even start.

The JCP also does NOT fit the Fobus holster for the RP9, which is another large slide.

So...that sucks.:(

They are. Alien Gear makes an IWB as I have one. Need suspenders for that!

The FN FNP 45 is nearly as large as a JCP. I don't have a HP pistol anymore so have no clue what I make that will fit. I have a holster made for the FNP. They fit everything else large I've put in them, Glock, 1911, Springfield, Smith, CZ, all of them. But the HP is a deformed critter with odd sensibilities.

Thank you for trying anyway. I don't have any of those guns so I couldn't have tested it myself, and its useful to know!

Thank you for letting me know about that option, I actually didn't even realize Alien Gear made holsters for Hi-Point! I will definitely keep it in mind, but I was looking for a way to get him a leather holster made by Savoy specifically as a gift.

I looked up the FN 45, it does look quite large. Can't tell if the slide is as thick as the HP's hugely bulky slide, but it certainly looks long enough. Thank you for the info, I will look into the dimensions more!

Thank you, yes! :D I am looking for a Savoy holster match specifically, since I already bought the gift certificate. I am thinking that since their holsters are leather, if there is a holster made to a very similarly sized gun model, the HP would mold itself into the holster in time, like leather holsters are known to allow. I know if the fit is too off, it won't work properly to draw or to cover the trigger, so it has to be quite close, hence the very specific question.
The answer is to find a local holster maker. It may cost you as much as the gun.

Trashy, did you miss the part where "I am looking for a Savoy holster match specifically, since I already bought the gift certificate"?? Sounds to me like Sokolva is pretty much locked into Savoy.
