Hello everyone! I just got my fiancee a used, new-style Hi-Point JCP for $110 and he loves it, he's been able to fire really tight groups with it right away and its performed flawlessly. I have been looking around at holsters and I fell in love with Savoy Custom Holsters: https://www.savoyleather.com/product-category/holsters/
I got him a gift certificate to the store for Christmas so he could pick out his own custom holster. However, when I asked if Savoy could make a custom holster for a Hi-Point, since they make custom holsters, they replied they don't make holsters for Hi-Points. However, they make holsters for a wide selection of guns, from full sized Desert Eagles, to Glocks, to Beretta's, to tiny .380 pistols, and I'm even getting one made for my Walther P38, a very weirdly shaped gun by today's standards.
I've been wondering if there are any fairly well-known guns that have a very similar size, shape, and profile to the Hi-Point, so that my fiancee could order a custom leather holster for his Hi-Point that would fit well. I figured he'd have to use the gift card for a holster to the CC gun he's planning on getting, but he's been really impressed with the Hi-Point, and IMO a lot of the point of such a decorative, sturdy holster is for open carry of large guns anyway.
I've been disappointed with the variety of holsters offered for Hi-Point guns. They severely need more support in this area, especially since high-quality craftsmen seem to dismiss Hi-Points from the market even though they are a large, loyal subsection of today's gun culture. I think if there was a common or older firearm that had a very similar size and profile, this would be useful information for anyone else who wants to have custom holsters made for their Hi-Points.
You have to admit, it would be both hilarious and awesome, walking around with a heavily decorated custom Savoy handpainted holster, and a thick, black Hi-Point cradled inside it like a prize 1911. A beautiful holster paired with a gunsnob's worst nightmare, the supposed "ugliest gun" on the market...
Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing your suggestions! I'll continue to do research and measurements as well, to try to find a match!
