Just purchased a Hi-Point 995ts 9mm for my husband. He said he wanted a 10mm. When I called the store back about it, the salesperson said "same thing". Now I took that as saying you can shoot a 10mm round from this gun. Not being a real sportsperson myself, can someone clear this up for me? Can you shoot a 10mm round from a 9mm with a shorter barrel?

No you can not. You were had by a salesperson that only had 995s in stock. Basically a Bait n Switch.

You should pack the gun with powder, safely blow it up, then take the pieces back to the store and threaten to sue them unless you get a 1095 and 1000 rounds of ammo....

Ok, that’s a dumb idea, but that’s what I’d like to do.

If it were my wife she'd march right back there, ask for the owner/manager, and completely destroy that shady bastard in front of all the customers thereby getting what she wanted and having the schmuck fired to boot.

Mary, what Cicpup said is absolutely correct, The 10mm is a bigger, more powerful round. The two are not interchangable. If it were me, I'd go back to the store, demand to see the manager or the owner and have their liver for breakfast. The short version is that, not only were you lied to, but the information he gave you COULD potentially cost someone an eye, a finger or, worst case, their life.

What do you think Evil would do to that idiot. Jesus I would feel sorry for that poor bastard. He would be on suicide watch for life.

I guess y'all are going with this is a real post by a real person?

Ok.
Yup - you could be right, we may be crazy. I've seen stranger things in gun shops, though - especially a dumazz dealing with a lady who is ignorant of firearms. If it's a joke - OK. If it isn't....

I get it. Better safe than sorry. And everyone is minding their p's and q's in here lately.
I just see the red flags of bull shite in that post.

I've overheard crazy things in a gun shop; for example a clerk telling someone it was perfectly safe to shoot 45 Long Colt out of an old H&R .410 Topper shotty. I went and got ahold of the owner who corrected his employee and apologized to the customer for the ill advice.

Oh I get that, being a woman who is fairly knowledgeable about firearms who goes to gun stores. It's almost comical when a guy will dig his heels in about his wrong thing too, just because I'm a woman, and bow howdy I can't look like this little lady knows something I don't when I'm behind this counter and she's just a purty lil squatter.

Sorry is I sound stupid, but I AM a real person. I don't want to slander the dealer, they have been in our community for many years. I shoot hand guns, not semi-automatic carbines. Know absolutely nothing about them, and when I question something, I go to the person who I think should know. No need to get testy here.

I'm glad you responded Mary. Don't let some here run you off with their snide remarks. There are not enough new members staying around for long as it is. As cicpup stated above, this place is one step above life support.
Very few Posts except from a handful of members. I doubt the Owners will ignore this much longer.
