Hi Point JHP .45 ownership ?

Discussion in 'General Hi-Point Discussion' started by shadowlands, Jan 25, 2016.

  1. Way back in the days, I owned the Hi Point JHP .45. I liked it. I liked being a part of the forum.
I also had the 9mm carbine and I was always updating it, etc…
Well, to make a long story short, I sold most of my guns, when I got married and started having kiddos.
I left the range, and just kept a Ruger LCP for “conceal carry”.
Time went by, and my wife became more comfortable with the gun issue, so I bought a Mossberg 12 gauge for home defense.
When I qualified for my Texas Conceal Carry license, I didn’t use my little Ruger, so I rented a full size 9mm.
I was a little bummed that I didn’t own one.
Well now, I’m ready to own a full size 9mm, .40 or .45, not for carry, but for the range, qualifying, etc…
Gander Mountain, near my house, keeps the Hi Point JHP .45 in stock for $159.99.
If I go with the Hi Point, since it’s a typical gun, how many of you would “qualify” with it/one?
Have many have? Just curious. Or would still bring something more typical like a Smith & Wesson 9mm SD, etc…?
If you did qualify or test with your Hi Point, did anyone give you flack?

    :welcome:back, shadow!!!

I have read where several here have qualified with a Hi Point, but
some of the snobbish folks there scoffed at it. Best bet is to make
sure it is running 100% before you qualify, (especially with a C9)
and go show those snobs a thing or two! If you get the JHP it
will prolly run 100% right outta the box, the large frames have
less issues than the C9, which is now nearly trouble free too.

  3. Thanks a ton!!! I missed this forum. Part of me wants the Hi Point so I can visit more often and be proud Hi Point owner, once more.

Several active members here ( including me ), do not currently own any Hi Points. Do not let that keep you away.
I have had several Hi Points, but they all were sold or traded for one reason or another. I still frequent this site because the lack of gun snobbery.

Many Moons ago, when I was on a State Wide Tac Team in MO, I showed up for training (Jefferson City training range) with a new C9.

I recieved a BUNCH of BS from those guys. They were all name brand gun guys.

Whos gun never jammed, shot bent cased ammo and out shot allllll of the name brand guns...the C9.

All of them found a new respect for that pistol. The only downs, limited mag capacity and it looks clunky.

I wouldnt carry a 1500.00 Kimber any way. If you blast a Goblin, you're PROBABLY never gonna see that pistol again. It's "evidence" in a shooting.

I own a bunch of HPs too:
    1 .380
    1 9mm
    2 .45s
    1 .40
    1 .40 Carbine
    1 9mm Carbine

I dont know what it is about these pistols, I like them.

I am down to 4 HPs, (from a high of 9) and am
considering selling off 2 more, so I can buy another 4595 and
more AMMO... Plus another 1-2 of those sweet Korean 45 Drums :D

What are you considering selling now, Rob?
  12. yeah some guys at my club make comments about my hi-points. that's when I remove the red spot from the center of my target with bullets. that normally quiets them down.

I have a few HP pistols. I like to take the shiny ones out. Nobody tells me they are UGLY?

    Just one JHP .45 isn't enough. It's a great full-sized pistol.

I would not hesitate to shoot my jhp in qualifying for ccw. and the fire ball is cool too.
  16. I appreciate all of the replies. I am considering it, for sure.

This is my HP 45 collection.

  19. Nice!!!! Good stuff!!!!
I may just do this because I've already spend enough on my Ruger LCP.
I've added a CT laser and red, upgraded trigger.
    It's my pocket gun.
I can pick up a Hi Point .45 for $159.99 new, at Gander Mountain.
