Thanks, for me, having to fiddle with mag feed lips to ensure reliability is crazy. Once the new HP 10mm pistol has been our for a bit, that could be a possibility. I go to the range 1-2 times a week, so should be able to get a handle on any problems pretty quickly. Big, heavy, and not the most aesthetically pleasing, they may be, but I would still like to try one
JHP, add $30 Thingmeister mag catch, both of mine & my 4595 carbine have been 100% on 1911 mags.

I also see no reason to stray from OEM magazines, except for maybe the Hi Point endorsed Red Ball mags. They are inexpensive reliable firearms and straying from OEM is nothing more than lipstick on a pig. But to each his own.
I see no reason to stock another .45 ACP mag when I already had serviceable 1911 mags in the house. It does keep me out of the HighTower game, but gives me a chance to play w/ a folding buttstock on the 4595. There are some deals to be had on the Tisas 1911s, they are almost all Cerakoted instead of Parkerized, however.

Large Frame, for certain. I've owned them ALL prior to the 3895. The JHP was flawless, and so was my JCP. I guess the C9 is now pretty reliable with better QC on the mags, but I don't buy economical guns these days. But I still love the HP concept! Sub $200 gun for the everyman and everywoman out there operating under a tight dollar cap.
I also love the new G3 (glunk gen 3) stuff, it's getting under $300 for a reliable steel slide, 17rd double stack glunk clone, but I only like the ones that use the Glunk Magazines 😹
The Turks are bringing in gen 3 Glock clones that take Beretta 92 or CZ 75 mags, somewhat intriguing, but I think I've nailed down a Dagger dealership which I think will sink the Turks.

My Hi Point model JHP 40 S&W has been flawless. I don't shoot it as much as I should since the price of ammo skyrocketed, but before that I probably put a couple thousand rounds through it. I think I got it in 2013 or 14 It's now my if they catch me by surprise and make me open my safe pistol, loaded and ready to pull out of the safe and do what I have to do.. It shoots well and is impressively accurate.
Carry a Rock Island .38 in your PJs. Shoot them first.
