No, it ain't Tron's light disk, but it may replace Brinks Home Security & similar services.

Flare aims to make home security easy and intelligent

    Good call.

    I corrected the title.

Can I blame it on "finger dyslexia" or something? ;)

The NSA is not the "danger" with being internet connected. The danger is from Cracker crews (or wannabes) trolling for exploits and cracking it. Pretty much like any other webcam capable device. Do you walk around your house in your underwear (or less)? Ever have sex on the couch? This thing could "watch" you do it and a cracker could invade your privacy.

They say that they've got that covered (literally, "mechanically covered" when you're at home) but the device is automated so, if the device is cracked, the mechanism could be reversed.

It's a neat idea, but I want to be careful about these sort of things.
