In searching the website, it doesn't appear that many folks carry a Hi Point as a concealed carry weapon. There are some threads in which a few folks that indicate they carry the HP, but it seems like there are many more that chose to carry something else besides the HP.

I bought my C9 and intend to carry it when my CWL gets done being processed. Is there a problem carrying them concealed? I'm just wondering why on a website that touts the HP as an awesome pistol (I know I love mine) that there aren't more that carry them. Why is that? I'm just curious - maybe I'm missing something?

I carry mine. But, then again, I'm 6'1", 240 lbs. The C9, as you already know, is not a small pistol. In the summer time, here in Houston, it gets well over 100 degrees. In that heat, no, I usually carry my Glock 27 in a pocket holster. But, in all other weather, I carry my C9. If concealment is an issue, and you don't wear a suit, try a 5.11 tactical vest. I use that quite frequently. They're not expensive, and they have lots of handy pockets for extra magazines, small first-aid kit, etc. I'm thinking about ccw'ing a JHP that I intend to buy. Fobus makes great holsters for both models, it just depends on your comfort level and ability to conceal them. I think most people here, to answer your question directly, are looking to go smaller and lighter than a C9 or above. Even a co-worker that's bigger than me ccw's a .22 so he can wear shorts without a belt.

I carry my C9 in an IWB holster and don't have any problems as long as I am wearing a fairly loose fitting shirt. I am 6'6" 210

That's true too. I don't carry IWB because it feels kinda rock-in-shoe to me, but yeah, that's an option I wasn't considering.

I'm 5'10 and about 220. I'm not tiny.

I'm looking into the smart carry - actually, I'm building my own. I'm also looking at an off body option, as well as IWB. Of course, I don't expect to get my concealed permit until Oct or November - law says they have 90 days. We'll see.

It gets hot here, too... but other than a .22 LR pocket size pistol, the C9 is all I have, and for now, all I can afford. I love the gun and don't see a reason to get something more expensive. I would like to get a Ruger P89, as it was my first handgun that I had to sell some years ago when money was tight and we had a new baby. I really liked that one.

Anyway, anyone else want to chime in on the original post?

IMO the C9 is a bit too large to comfortably conceal in weather that routinely reaches the 100s

The C9 was always my HD gun but has since been sold.

I carry a KelTec P11 conversion because it is tiny fits in my pocket and shoots a stronger round than the c9.

If texas had open carry would I prolly have slung the C9 on my hip when im out riding my dirtbike on the trails though.

Not what I picture from your stats. Target aside, remind me not to make you mad.
I'm 6'1" as well, but 160.
At almost 45, I can still run fast though if needed.

Anyway, (besides the fact that your arms equal my legs), I would never notice your CC to the left and mags to the right.
And probably your back only if you bent over.

And for rimfire, obviously it can be done well as the pics. reveal.
I'm not "substantial" enough to pull it off I don't think, but it can be done.
As an aside, gorillas don't have to conceal anything, they just tell you what they want and you say o.k.

I believe your confusion lies in the fact the first pictures were taken in the mirror. You'll notice that the safety is not visible, so you are actually viewing the right side of the gun. Plus, Fobus doesn't make a LH holster for the Hi-Point.

You may correct, I failed to notice that.
The first two in the first set look to be taken at arms length, but I'm easily bumfuggled at times.
My mistake and apologies.

Srben - nice lat spread, buddy. Looks like you hit the gym... that's where most of my girth is from, although I've got some chub too... I still hit the iron, but not to the OCD (psychological, not open carry) level that I used to do. I have lots of similar pics, but none with my gun though, lol.

I'd like to see that tactical vest setup, as I'm not sure how I'd wear it as a conceal. I work in an office, but no suit or tie. Just dress pants and either a dress shirt or a polo, or the occasional Hawaiian shirt. When you're the boss, you get to set the dress code.

When I'm at home with the kids and wife, it's cargo shorts and t's.

I don't carry my C9 or the JHP, but I am only 5'9" at 170 lbs.
I can barely carry my LCP without it showing in the summer.
When it's jacket weather, I tend to carry my Bersa, just because I am dead ars accurate with it. (3" groups at 50 feet)

I love this vest. It has room for EVERYTHING. Great concealability for everything up to a freakin' machete, and it makes monster guns just disappear. No one outside of gun fanatics recognize it for what it is, but it can be a full out tac vest for when the zombies come alive and roam the earth. 4 thumbs up!

Sorry about the blurriness; something about the mirror. Maybe I need to clean it, lol. This is awesome for really hot Houston weather when the vest (and most clothing) is just too hot. I know some guys don't like a "man purse", but I've got to tell you, it really spoils you to have everything right in your lap. Down side? In a snatch scenario, the bad guy will probably try to grab this, and it's what holds your gun. Upside? Spacious, wayyyyy comfortable, and rips open with the snap of a buckle to access your gun. Since it's on your front, you can create space with your hands and then access it. Highly recommended.

The interior front pocket has oodles of room for spare mags, zombie repellent, etc.:
