I picked this up from a guy over on the Gunboards for less than it would have cost me to drive to the CMP and buy it.

Sorry about the flash, I need a new point and shoot.

There is a small nick on the side. It looks like the sling has slapped the same place for a bunch of years.

mmmm, coors light, and garcia y vega minis.

It looks like the previous owner had cleaned the wood with steel wool, and BLO.

Nice example of a Carbine! I swear that is one of the handiest little rifles ever made. I really wish somebody would put a GI spec M1Carbine into production and add some newer calibers to the .30 Carbine.

Take it out and shoot it often, you'll enjoy it.

Ammo from the CMP (a 3 hour drive) is 155 for 500 rds, and its reloadable (I reload). It is less expensive than my Mosin, Swiss, and ARs. On top of that, it reloads with only 14 grains of powder. It will cost just a touch more than shooting a 22 with good ammo. :)

Last time I checked, .30 cal. cost about the same as 5.56 if not cheaper.

And that ammo from CMP isn't available at the store, and the waiting time for mail order is running around 6 months at present

Fine, then I will buy it up the street for .40-.45 per rounds and reload that. It is still cheaper than everything else I shoot that isn't Russian surplus.

Oh, and lets call it 3.5 hours at around 70-75.
Waiting 6 months isn't going to kill me. I went 32 years with out the rifle.

Stickhauker, are you haulling that stick up your a$$? Lighten up man. :) I will buy you a beer the next time I am in Dayton. Seriously, I should be in the Moraine area in a few weeks.

30 carbine tuns about a buck a round in my neck of the woods for commercial and 50c for mlitary. i ended up selling my universal so its not a big deal anymore.

thats a drool worty carbien right there.

SW
Two words
Mail order :)

I found a few places online selling magtech for $21-$25 for 50, and then you just have to pony up for the shipping.

My FAV' gun! I bought mine for $460 with my economic stimulus check. If this came out in .223, I'd probably buy 2, and sell everyother gun I own. Anyone ever had the bolt flop-out on them? Like during a rapid fire you might get a FTE, and the bolt goes cock-eyed and kinda goes off track?
