....Im moving into town, I know that sucks. I cant shoot in my back yard anymore. This cheap ass house Im looking at(less than $400 with all utilities paid) is smack-dab in the middle of the ghetto. So a security gun is in order.

My FFL has both in stock, both are $1100, choices are....

1. SPAS 12 with hooked top folder
2. "Tromix" converted Saiga 12

Or....

3. Spend $300 on a Maverick 88 and put the other $900 towards the Vortec 5.7 swap for my ZR2?

Buckshot is still readily avaliable everywhere right?

spend 300.00 on a Mossberg 500 with a 18.5 inch barrel... if you look around they are out there and used even cheaper..

yes buckshot seems to be selling slow 8)

Another vote for the Mossy 500. Load up with BB shot or #1 Buck it will do just fine.

if you can afford it, get the saiga 12. "traditional" shotguns should be readily available and "should" be down on the list of bannable firearms. the saiga 12 has been a target and especially more of one now that 20 round drums are readily available. it may go the way of the streetsweeper.

I think I would cough up a couple more bucks for an 870 express over a mossturd. IOMA. If available that is. Seen more than one 500 that had to be slammed open to free an empty in a duck pit, with factory loads.

Get the Saiga--Tromix work is awesome! I do like the Spas 12 though-- especially after the Terminator-- parts may be spotty though.

Get the Saiga now and get a Mossy later.

look at it this way, if you use it in a home invasion/robbery/riot, which would you rather have the PD taking away and engraving a evidence # on- a 300$ everyday shotgun or a 1100$ custom piece that may or may not be given back to youat the end of the case?

Home defense? Go with the Mossberg.

Range and/or "bad ass gun to impress my buddies"? Go with either the Spas or the Tromix. I would go with the Tromix myself.

get a 500 or similar, then spend a little on those goodies everyone seems to want, like extra ammo holders, folding stock, etc etc... then do the swap on the zr2, go for a ride and be happy.

I just scored an Ithica "stakeout" in the paper for $100, that will do just fine for me.

This thing is a bitch to tear down by the way....I hate it already. Shoots well though.

Nice part about a pump shotgun is the maintenance. Run a 12ga boresnake through the barrel, wipe out the breach area, grease the pump rails and your done. Only reason to really tear into it is to replace parts or fix a problem. JMHO. YMMV.

I have bought a 12 and a 20 gauge Maverick Presuader in the last 2 weeks on Auction Arms. The 20 gauge I got for $125 +25 shipping, add another 15 for transfer and I still did pretty good I think on it. The 12 ended up shipping, transfer and gun for $300. Sometimes you get lucky if you just look at that site a lot.

+1 here, the 870, especially an older model, will last. The Mossberg won't. There have been more 870s produced than any other commercial firearm in history so I understand. Finding a cheap used one shouldn't be hard.

Rem 700. 18.5 barrel. You cant go wrong. Or go with the mossy or the maverick. They are in order of how I would buy them. I grew up on remmys so that is why...... Can go wrong with a pump!!!

And now its gone, lol.

Got $200 for it, used half of the proceeds to buy Resident Evil 5, and I'll be gonddamned if that same gun isnt in the game.

It holds 5 time more rounds in the game too....
