I broke the recoil spring guide on my "llama". I bought another one off of an individual from another forum. I know, how could I have frequented another forum! I'll give myself 40 lashes with a whip later. Ha ha But seriously, the new rod is just a little longer than the old one. Maybe 1/8". I installed it. The gun seemed to cycle fine, but I don't want to break it again. What do you guys think? Should I run it? Should I cut the rod down? Should I take it to a gunsmith? I value all of your opinions, as always.
File it or touch it to a grinding wheel with a water bath to cool. Why take the chance, it's only a few minutes to do it? Cycle it without the spring to see what hits. Question is, why did it break in the first place?
OK Rat, I'll confess. I broke it. I had just got back from shooting an I was getting ready to clean it. I pulled the takedown pin and pulled the slide forward and snap, it broke. Why, because I forgot to remove the barrel bushing and spring plug. I know, rookie move.
