I wanted just 22lr, 9mm, 223/556 and 12g... But I wasn't my fault!! I had my first AR being built, this build started about a month before Sandy Hook shooting. We're talking late 2012 , around Halloween time... when the school shooting occurred, everything got scarce, rather quickly. So I got what I could find. No regrets, and in fact I'm glad it worked the way it did.

I currently have or had these calibers/variants:
17 hmr_
22s
22l
22lr
22mag
223/556
270w_
30-30
762x25
762x39
762x51*
9mm
38spc
357mag
40s&w_
10mm
44mag
45acp
45super
460rowland

762x51* the asterisk means I have ammo without a gun for it... how long can this last? It will likely be for barter. But an AR10 would be sweeet...

17hmr_ the underscore means I sold it, gun(s) and ammo all. 40s&w_ is gone too. No need for that, I have 10mm and some of this is just 40 Long but not much of mine!!

The 270w_ well, I got a great deal on a Savage 110 chambered in 270w, and had close to 500 rounds but it's also sold. Something else was calling and it went to a dedicated hunter using it out West

Notice the lack of 380acp. Never felt the need, but may want one for a deep concealed carry if a micro 9 does not quite fill the bill. No rush!

All these were obtained at good prices, and during a gun scare and ammo shortage, well, let's just say I was very blessed most of the time. 40s&w was very abundant during the Sandy Hook scare. I was well prepared with 40 when 9mm was as rare as hen's teeth. People around here are very traditional but it's slowly changing. It's taking the majority a lot longer time to catch up to me. I was stacking 22mag and 17hmr when people were getting into fights over 22lr I still have mucho 22lr but I was patient and got almost all of it at the right price.

Rolling with the punches is why I have had 20+ calibers instead of the 4 or 5 in my original plan. But I have not been without abundant protection since I started...

I have had people who know me say "WOW, are you planning on starting a WAR?" and my answer has always been: "NO, but I plan on FINISHING* IT!!!"

SURVIVAL. End of story!

* finishing it alive

An AR what would be sweet?
Sports equipment Motor vehicle Wood Trigger Shotgun

Personally, I started out looking for the rifles i was familiar with, and it snowballed from there. @undeRGRound did some enabling while I was out running the roads... Don't I still owe you money?

As far as rifles and shotguns go, I'm down to two. A lever action 45 colt to go with the Ruger, and a modern .410 since the 20ga is an old NEF. Handguns, I will end up adding a few. I'll pick up a 9mm and a .45 ACP, but I need to finish the 422 rebuild first and foremost.

17HMR
22LR (×3)
.270win
.223 wylde
7.62x39

.30-06
50 cal (muzzle loader)
.38sp
.357mag
.40 S&W

You have a 6.8 x 43 millimeter Special Purpose Cartridge rifle? Can you find ammo for it now? This is a round I wish the military would have chosen to replace the 5.56 x 45 round. Instead they looked at the .277 Sig Fury round (an over pressure barrel burner round in my opinion). I think the .277 Sig Fury will slowly fade away to insignificance.

All the ammo I see in local gun stores presently is way too expensive for me. Only ammunition I have bought has been by mail order.

I am looking to sell about 13 pounds of empty brass shell casing presently.

Yes I do. AR. Decent qty mags of all varieties, decent amount of ammo I stock piled. How much for the brass shipped in a flat rate box?

I love the caliber. Same no recoil of 5.56, but heavier yet still relatively flat shooting bullet.

One AR10? You can’t have just one....6.5 CM, and the .308. The round carbine handguards have since been replaced with a Magpul unit.

I have the same problem. Getting ready for retirement I decided to upgrade and downsize and concentrate on 3 brass cartridges, 9mm, 223, and 308. I was initially successful. But soon new cartridges started showing up again.

Honestly, I think if I had decided on the 22 Hornet, 30-30 Winchester, 45-70, and 32 H&R Magunm I would have been more successful, that’s about all I shoot anyways, with the exception of 32 H&R Magnum, but I just like the cartridge, I throw in a bit of 25-06 and 280 Remington thrown in for good measure. I would probably add 45 acp, just because WWJMB do?

I like the 6.5 millimeter Creedmoor round. It has great long range performance with 120 to 143 grain bullets. But unless you are into reloading it is about $1.90 per shot. That is too expensive for me.

Found a small (550rd) secondary stash of 10mm. This is like gold right now Most of the 10mm that is missing was shot by "the boi" in his Sig Legion P220 and the Kriss-Vector. I have the K-V now and he traded the Legion for a nearly new set of a Hellcat MOS and an FNX45 Tactical. Seems that money wise he made out very well. I'm gonna buy the Hellcat MOS asap, I'm prolly gonna make that a primary CCW if I like it well enough. Or get a Sig P365

Not ruling out any of the top 5 CCW with optics. I guess I could winter carry the Tanfoglio Witness Hunter 10mm 6" longslide

I still have an extra 18 inch AR-10 barrel I will sell you if interested. It has less than three hundred rounds shot through it.

It was strange. I was researching the costs of different rifle rounds. 30-30 is very expensive now compared to .300 AAC Blackout. You can get .300 Blackout for about 80 cents per round compared to $2.50 per shot for 30-30 ammunition. Has .300 Blackout become more popular than the 30-30? I know there are still a lot of 30-30 rifles out there in America.

It's the opposite.

Since more folk own .30-30's, the demand for the ammo has increased far above normal.

Whereas, .300 Blackout is a niche caliber, and the demand is limited to only a few owners, thus a lower cost to move an over abundance of ammunition.

Interesting to note - Ruger's Tactical Mini-14 is now chambered for .300 Blackout.

Unless you want to shoot subsonic suppressed the 7.62x39 is something you already have with pretty much the same ballistics.

On the other hand, .300 BO is used in guns with 30 round mags, while the 30-30 is usually run in guns that hold 6 or less.

Huh. How many 150 grain X39 rounds have you seen?
Yes, X39 fills one of the roles that 300 BO does.
But Suppressed isn’t the only other role, and there’s lots of different ballistics out there.

I have some 158gr soft point around here somewhere. It pops up every 5th blue moon from SG.

Small amounts of sub-sonic stuff appears occasionally. Not that I have a use for it.

Cor-Bon and Freedom Munitions both sell them. The Cor-Bon is pretty pricey, but the Freedom Munitions is affordable and probably almost as popular as thev123 grain. At least around here.
